Two vehicles, huh?

Vehicle #1 would have to be a vehicle that I could do every-day driving in, haul up to four people (besides me) around in on occasion, be reliable, etc. However, it'd need to be able to be tossed around when I get the urge.
Candidates include a Datsun 510, Mazda RX-3, or a Nissan S13 Silvia.

Vehicle #2 would be a cargo/utility vehicle to cart around big stuff when I need to. While I'm sorely tempted to stick a station wagon in here (We've been using an '89 Olds Custom Cruiser as the solar vehicle project's cargo hauler), I really can't justify that, seeing as the car above will serve as a people mover. Also, I'd feel bad about tossing sheets of plywood in the back of, say, a '55 Chevy.

After much consideration, the first car would unquestionably have to be a 4-door 1969 Datsun 510 with an SR20DET engine swap. Beautiful styling with updated, more reliable, more powerful internals. Vehicle #2 would be a Grumman/Chevy step van with a big honkin' diesel.

For a pair? I'd have a Dodge SRT10 truck with the Viper engine, and A Seadoo 1800 Sportster 1800 Jet Boat painted black to match the truck with a "truefire" paint job on both. That's a 15 layer airbrush paint job using wisp shaped masks and it really looks like fire. Google image search to see some examples of it.

My immediate thought is:

a 99 all black, limo tinted crew cab 3500 dually Silverado, with matching BMW R1200 RTs in the bed, towing an LS7 powered six speed '02 Camaro. Black, of course. And the dually must have an adjustable height suspension. Either the 8.1L big block from the Avalanche, or maybe a tuned Duramax. Or maybe a CAT diesel, something really silly.

My other thought would be a '67 Chevy pickup, in just about any form with no exhaust, and a black 2door 66 Biscayne, with the new LS9, paddle shifters of some variant, bench seats with racing harnesses, roll cage, flame thrower exhaust, C5 Vette suspension, full bore techno-weenie interior with computers, GPS, FLIR and night vision HUDs, couple of radar detectors, satellite phone, chaff, ECMs, high velocity bulletproof glass and body panels. Ya know, the typical post apocalyptic drill. The obligatory sleeper dogdish hubcaps. And for some reason, a big whip antenna in the rear.

For about 12 years I had two vehicles. A Corvette and a full size 4X4 SUV. The first Vette was a 77 and the first SUV was a 79 K-5 Blazer. The 77 Vette was retired for a 94 coupe. The Blzer was killed by a combination or a brick mailbox and an idiot in a 280ZX (still drove it home, but it was totaled). The Blazer was replaced by a 87 Ford Bronco.

The Vette was always the daily driver, what's the point of a fun car for only the weekend. The SUV was for hauling stuff, towing the lake toys, driving in the woods, etc.

In short fun two seater of choice for everyday (ideal Ferrari 430 or ZR1) and big ol 4X4 truck/SUV beater for hauling/towing stuff (ideal Unimog, PowerWagon, F-250 Diesel, or Defender 110.)

Some big comfy motorhome like above and a comfy enclosed trailer for the rally car. Not too far out of the question since a mortgage can be had on motorohomes that have a bathroom and bedroom. Living in SoCal, storage for a setup like that would be the most expensive thing.

If I had to purchase/insure/maintain them myself, probably a Mercedes turbodiesel wagon ('77-'86) converted to waste veggie oil. And a Miata with a Ford V8 wedged into it.
