Here in the UK Sky movies has been showing Bullitt in regular rotation. Yesterday evening it was on and I had two of my daughters watch the chase scene. Kind of tough explaining the differences between Dodges and Fords to a 9 year old, and why the sound of a wide open V8 is music to her dad's ear, but you have to start them early. Wish I could go see it on the big screen.

@graverobber: The Rialto is cheap to rent! I am walking distance from it. A buddy of mine rented it out to propose to his woman. And very high marks in the old school dilapidated style. For those who don't know the Rialto was in the movies The Player, Kentucky Fried Movie and the second Scream, I think. Converted from vaudville stage to run movies. Too much history for me too geek out on here. Suffice to say, L.A. area jalop fans may want to think about it. I'll be walking by it tonite on my way to the bank.

Actually, 'Bullitt' does appear on the big screen in SoCal from time to time.

Saw it about 12 years ago when Warner Brother did a big film festival for their 75th anniversary at Graumann's Chinese. Each day featured a different decade, and Bullitt ran right before 'Bonnie and Clyde'.

I've also seen Bullitt as well as 'Vanishing Point' at the Egyptian Theatre as part of the American Cinematheque series, where they invite cast and crew members to participate in a Q&A session afterward.

For those who might poo-poo seing these classics on a real movie screen (and at the two mentioned above, they were on brand-new prints), remember that you probably have never seen some of the older films in their proper look if you've only caught them on cable or a DVD. The color really pops out, and you see details you'd never catch on even the largest flat screen TVs.

Also, I was reminded upon seeing Bullitt from a movie theatre seat how much the in-car cameras really gave you the sensation that you were going over the jumps -- the feeling in your stomach you get when you're on a roller coaster.

For those of you who will see it in MI, have fun!

I'm with you, texan01. Ironically, I'm relocating that weekend, from Vegas to Austin, so I'll still be doing vehicular-based stuff...no hoonage, however.

Tough to be hoon-like in a 30K lb., 40' long, diesel motorhome...though I do know its top speed is a redline-limited 86.5 MPH. Sparse Nevada roads are good for something...
