Street legal bikes that can go offroad are really handy for the person who doesn't have a trailer, hell this thing would fit in even a small pickup bed.

Acutally, I'd find me an '86 Honda CT110, dual-range transmission, 12V electrics and all.

My wife had a Helix, an '86, for a while, and that thing was really kind fun. Odd on small tires, after becoming accustomed to normal-sized hoops, but still, any bike which can carry a short-weekend's stuff in it's 'trunk', works for me.

After she'd been hit by an idiot in a car, I stripped the mangled body work off it and drove it to work for a few days, to see if anything truly 'bad' had happened to it. Bent wheel, that's it...and it looked like a Mad Max refugee. People stayed away from me....

I can tell you that my Yamaha Morphous, (Google it) is a stylish yet practical rig that gets 70 mpg, positive coments from everybody that sees it and is as good a commuter as anyone can ask for.

As for the HUMMER designed scoot, it it was available for sale and got folks out of their 12mpg rigs and into the open air and onto 2 wheels, I say bring it on! ANd I'd bet that if it ever shows itself, it will be just 250cc. That's plenty for nearly everyone and hits a pricepoint that people might pay.

Use a big scooter like this for your day-to-day for a week and I challenge you to tell me it's not more practical. I had a T-Max 500 for a while in London, it did 120mph, fit a week's worth of shopping, I could park it anywhere and never once had to sit in traffic. Weekly fuel costs, in London mind you, were about 5 pounds and the yearly insurance was 250.
