The exterior does not look like a sports car, more like a Euro sedan. The interior looks like more GM plastic crap.

I love the Camaro. I have owned 14 in my time. All body types. The lamest was a 1977 Z28. I will not buy a want to-be

If I wanted something like this, I would have purchased a GTO, another Euro sedan with Tupperware interior.

Please resolve this; my 1999 has 190K on it.

@FLB: The problem is that this is not 1984. This is a new car design some 24 years later. But then again, my 2000 Camaro had roughly the same interior as an 84 Pontiac, so the interior is still a couple years behind.

My biggest problem with the interior is that it is retro. Nobody wants a retro interior, well maybe 2 or 3 people. If GM expects to sell this car to more than a handful of people then they have to appeal to a wide audience. Do you think most of the general car buying public is going to have bit of a clue that the interior mimics that of a 69 Camaro? No. They'll just wonder why it is laid out so goofy and move on.

I really want this to succeed. GM is really making strides with their new models. With an interior like this I can't help but think its sales will fizzle after all the enthusiasts get theirs.

Looking at the HVAC controls, it looks like they tried to concentrate all functions using 2 knobs, and push buttons every where else. Remember this interior?

Three knob controls for the HVAC, a little more substantial looking, and a neat gauge cluster in the center console.

What a horrible engine compartment. It looks like a Star Trek (OG) shuttle craft. Even for a V6, it should inspire grunting and words like, "bad-ass." This looks like something out of a Camry. No, wait... the Camry looks more bad-ass.

Seriously, how am I going to be able to lift the hood and show off my new Camaro when it looks like that. My vote would be to uncover it all, but if you have to cover it, at least make it look cool.

@wannabewannabe: One car company I am familiar with, Nissan, has fully embraced the push button start.

Honestly, its a gimmick i could do without. I constantly found myself looking for the key fob. The tradtional lock cylinder is necessary if solely for the purpose of keeping your key in a location where you know where it is.

Just for fun, i tried the trick of throwing the fob out the window in a parking lot and driving away. That was before i knew how the system worked, i found out as soon as i shut the car off and tried to restart. LOL

Key In Hole is the way to go.

@B: It's my understanding that most push button starter cars still require you to insert the key in a slot to unlock the ignition, notwithstanding cars where the key fob stays in your pocket and tells the car by an RF signal that it's in the pants of the rightful owner. It is my further understanding that said RF key fobs tend to be expensive options. In my mind, the starter button gimmick is a solution to a problem that never existed and emblematic of the over-complification of modern cars for the sake of doing something differently, not necessarily better.

140 km/h is ridiculously low for a speedometer, it's got to be MPH.

That HVAC and radio binnacle still looks like hell, but the retro dual gauge setup is alright and the door panel is cool. I'm surprised GM didn't find a more awkward place to put the power window controls, like under the seat or in the trunk.

This is great - it shows a lot of attention to detail I haven't known from a GM product since well, ever. I remember how in the 80s almost every GM car and truck had the same crappy door handles that felt like they would fall apart (Fiero/S-10 pickup I recall). These look unique to the Camaro. The A/C controls look chunky and substantial (better than what you see in a Mercedes). Along with the digital readout, key remote, and unique steering wheel, etc., to me it looks like GM's new and better interiors are not a fluke.

I think the unlock botton is actually the botton to disable the traction control... I could be wrong. As for the brake fluid, could it be that it's just the info centre when you first turn on the ignition displaying info? To add to that, the picture to the left of that has a "hood open" warning. Never seen that on any other car...

These vehicles are built in Australia, yes? Maybe the instrument panel in the photos is configured for kph instead of mph, with red indicating illegal-for-Australia speeds.

Sort of like the dark days here in the US when '55' was highlighted on every speedometer.

That's a Direct Injection LLT straight out of the new CTS. The only thing missing from the beauty cover is the Cadillac crest. 304hp, 276 lb-ft in the Caddy. 276lb-ft comes out to about 370 Nm, which could explain the torque gauge maximum.
