This was not at a CTS owners' meet, it was at Scottsdale Pavilions, a weekly Saturday night car show here in Scottsdale, AZ where people just bring their cars out.

If I had 50 or 60 large to drop on a superfast luxury saloon, I'd seriously consider one of these. Unfortunately its value will probably drop like a stone in the UK, but what the hey, it's cool and it's different.

The front grille on this car makes it look like the old model again. I was really confused when I first looked at it. I had to compare it to the new regular CTS to see that it is indeed based on the new car.

If you had driven that up to me even without the badge I would have thought, What a knockout! It's extremely sharp.

Nice to see at least a little boot lid--does a non-hunchback really create that much wind resistance??? Though they put a lot of attention on the rear, it still seems front end heavy without a little more substance back there.

They best be careful- that car show is in the Phoenix area (see Camelback Mountain in the background)... Per Google Maps it is dangerous to be driving anything down there.

The switch to 5 lugs may have been to help the aftermarket side. Makes 5 spoke wheels much easier and a cleaner look.

@Steel_ETC: I don't think historically, Cadillac models ever get lighter in successive iterations, but I could be wrong about that.

Not that it matters in this case. What we have here is glorious luxo-cruising excess. When you wanna play Wagner on an American instrument, you can now at least count on Caddy to not wimp out on you. Maybe we can get Lincoln to wake up too, and realize that there is a market for performance oriented vehicles in this class.

I saw the CTS-V on the stand in Detroit on Saturday and was mighty impressed. I just wish the car had mesh in the fender ports as well to complete the look, but I'm just grasping at straws for complaints here.

It also looks like Cadillac has switched to five-bolt hubs for the new CTS-V, down from six-bolts in the previous generation. Could this mean that -gasp- the new V-series is not only more powerful but also lighter than its predecessor?
