Wow where do i start.. This car was designed and built in Australia. We already have them on our streets (400hp Clubsport sedans included to drop the kids off at school and shopping) About the original "Pontiac G8".. It was an after hours project by some of the engineers/designers at holden... We can come up with an awesome car over a few beers and some sketches and then you guys decide to badge it your own... And "theguinnesstooth" youre a poofta! Just remember that everytime any of you have a bitch about what you would change about the car... it wasnt made for you! It was made for the aussie bloke to chuck bricks in the back and then piss off camping with the wife for the weekend and get there quicker than any car out of america could have dreamed. Well it's about time the US gets a sportscar with a really big trunk(boot to our Aussie friends)The reason it's a Pontiac and not a Chev or GMC is that it would take extra time and money on the new front fascia. Now my hope is they F-up and price it out of reach of us that would buy it. The 34K for the GTO is what killed that great car. GM has had a habit of making cool cars that only the well off can afford new. Now if they offer the Maloo package it will be killer. I think I'd try ro get the Holden nose and badges just to really screw with people.

This does NOT need to be a fucking 4 door. And (I hope) it doesn't need to sell in big numbers. They're importing them alongside G8's so I don't see it being a big deal if they don't sell lots of them. As long as they make money on the ones they do sell.

I think the name is dumb (should be Maloo or El Camino or at least not alpha-numerical crap that means nothing) but if I get one it's gonna get all it's Holden emblems put back on it anyway.

And my guess as to why it's a Pontiac is so they don't have to design a different grille and badges for it. Just recycle the G8 bumper and stuff onto the truck.

@hapless: No, I believe the basis for a "shooting brake" is supposed to be a sports coupe. I think this runs more along the lines of '60s Fairlane or Chevelle 2DWs, or the VW Fox's big RWD brother. None of which can be called shooting brakes.

Sweet. I would consider a 4-door...and considering how popular crew cab pickups are now, I doubt it will be long before we see one. Not many people even buy regular cabs anymore.

As long as I can secure 4'x8' sheets with the gate down, it'll have all the utility I need. Stick a cap on it and you have an instant wagon.
