		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Gorgeous!  This is what the future looks like.  Increased efficiency AND performance.  Looks like this thing should have a wing option for flying over traffic jams.</p>
<p>To those on the motorcycle versus car speed debate:  it all depends on the track and track conditions.  Everyone knows that aerodynamic aids can be used to make a car pull more lateral G's than a typical motorcycle, with relatively much less skill and cohones than a motorcycle pilot.  That's why, despite certain limitations, many people agree that piloting motorcycles is a greater challenge and much more fun.</p>
<p>Would this vehicle with a full canopy and landing gear negate some of the fun? 		    <description><![CDATA[<P>No way it's a Bede product - the BD-5's fuselage is different. It's not a Pulse either - the nose is a different shape and the canopy is a different profile.</P>
<P>What it is, is convergent evolution. Two different approaches to achieving the same outcome in similar conditions will yield similar results.</P>
<P>Handling? Helloooo...at 340mph, handling really isn't the issue.</P>
<P>I have my doubts about 340mph, but if the horsepower numbers are to be believed, I'm very willing to admit it can be done - 750hp in an aircraft really moves the mail, and this thing is sleeker over most of its profile than a low-wing Cessna.</P>
<P>Anyway, it's vaporware. You saw the guy's rationale: everyone driving highish-speed electrics while a new, dedicated superfreeway is set aside just for personal missiles like this one. Ain't gonna happen. This prototype is as far is it gets.</P> <p>Elhigh</p>]]></description>

If planet earth were the size of a motorcycle, we'd be mistaken for a burning asteroid.I was in a rig weighing 40 tons..heard a whistle...as a passenger looked over at the speedometer nonchalantly to realize we were gliding effortlessly (except for the whistling aerodynamics of a rig brick wall front end) at 85mph.Had no clue excpet for the whistle...I knew then light weight for top speeds is not intelligent. Just the wind alone can outweigh the physical weight of a vehicle if too light..just watch some old nascar.That 1.87million pound motorcycle is the heaviest thing about it.</P> <p>bdon</p>]]></description>

If those training wheels don't retract, even if slightly, I can imagine watching it change lanes, hit a pothole, etc. at speed and being a dramatic experience. I can see the whole thing swaying madly back and forth, fishtailing and yeawing.</p>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Once you get past about 85 MPH, aerodynamics would seem to be the most important factor in the dynamics of this body in motion.  With most high speed machines, keeping the nose down takes active management.  If I were designing this, I would use a wing in front as well as in the back.  Any surface irregularity at above 150, and that weight in front won't be enough to keep it from going nose up and flipping. Any physicists out there?  Aerodynamic engineers?</p>
<p>I'd still give it a ride, but doubt I'd go half the speed it is capable of.  I prefer to ride ON my cycles, not IN them.</p> <p>DoctorNineTenths</p>]]></description>

Not bashing bikes at all (my avatar is a very special 916), but I certainly wouldn't say the Lambo got the shit kicked out of it. <p>This thing scares the bejeezuz out of me.... I've not ridden many fast bikes for legality reasons, but I do know that the if you get out of shape, like a slide, it is throwing your bodyweight in the opposite direction which is your best chance of uncrossing yourself.</p>
<p>This thing, with 750hp, <i>anything</i> goes wrong, even slightly, and you're a passenger. You go where <i>it </i> goes.</p>
<p>I know we're talking hypothetical here... nice idea, but uh... no.</p>
<p>Arnold Wagner came close with the <a href="http://www.ecomobile.com/index.htm">Ecomobile</a>, and we know that that actually works  <a href="http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y-shOcxZs2g">(video)</a>. As both a rider and a driver, my sentimentality is split, but in this part of the world, with twisty-turny-windy roads the norm, the car eats sportbikes for lunch. I can think of only about 5 curves in this province that I would brake for in the Corrado, but I wouldn't even consider taking them at those speeds on the bike. I've been passed by cocky sportbike riders who blow past me like I'm standing still on the straight stretches, but three corners later are glancing nervously at me coming up behind them in their rearview mirror.</P>

<p>There's several reasons and theories.  Cars, despite being heavier, roll much less during turns, allowing a sharper entry into turns.  Further, cars can get on the power on exit earlier (tail out in a car = rad, tail out on a bike = probably gonna lowslide).  Bikes hold the advantage in acceleration up to about 120-140 when aerodynamics becomes a dominant factor.</p>
<p>I think bikes are faster on tracks with sweeping turns and medium length straights, but on tight tracks or on tracks with very long straights (backstretch of Road America for example), cars are dynamically better.</p>
<p>But most importantly, in my experience it comes down to the pilot of the vehicle.  Valentino Rossi on a Ninja 250 could probably lap faster than any of us can in an Atom, just like Schumacher in an Accord could probably chase down most average riders on a Duc 1098R.</p> <p>Fitty7lax</p>]]></description>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Looks like it's got 4 wheels to me. Or do those training wheels retract? Not to mention the seating position qualifies it more like a scooter than a bike.</p>
<p>Either way, my BS meter is showing a strong reading here.</p>
