If VW is going to take on Toyota, they are going to have to address their build quality and reliability, improve parts availability to dealers and improve parts reliability period, play in every model segment (i.e. get into trucks), position themselves in every segment - not between, quit trying to make a luxury car - that's Audi's job, and for god sakes don't call the new model the Passat CC, change the name. And also give the dealers finance and lease rates to be competitive with everybody else even if you have to boost your residual values.

What's with the posts w/o pictures? I thought this was notification of a comment.

Back OT: Ummm.. 800,000 vehicles, sure VW can do that. I didn't see any mention of time frame. Give 'em 4-5 years and I'm sure they'll top 800k. Total.

Why oh why can't we have the new Scirocco? Because it would compete with the GTI? Um, won't the Passat CC compete with the Passat?

If VW intends to sell that many cars in the US, they need to clean up their reliability perception. I've seen that perception all over the net, regardless of the fact I've really had no problems with my GTI... other than the fuel pump acting wonky driving through the mountains from San Diego to Las Vegas in 115º heat.
