BTW while everyone is crapping on this car, I'll vouch that I'm interested in it, although mostly because I want a wagon version of my current Camry. So I was thinking about the current xB, except it's super-non-aerodynamic butt would mean awful wind noise and mileage on the long drives I often make, and while it adds some cargo space it doesn't really improve the passenger space.

So...yeah, if this is a slightly roomier xB with non-crap aerodynamics it's already sounding like something I might be interested in. Now...so long as they don't attempt to charge me $2000 extra for those stupid rims I don't need or want.

Heh, I find it insane that the stock wheels on the V6 are 20" rims...seriously. And the I-4 comes with 19" alloys standard?!

I can only assume it's going to be slow as hell stock trying to turn those huge rims.

That said, dubs are now officially standard wheels in an economy vehicle. I can only assume that BMWs and Benzes and Lexuses will now have to come with 24" rims standard, lol.

@ash78: Maybe this is the new Avensis Verso that the spys have snapped recently in heavy disguise. It's rather smart, so it'd be nice if it was. Four-wheel drive and a turbodiesel please. Unfortunately we'll probably get a crap grille treatment on this side of the pond. Toyota are good at that.

By the way, why's everyone so down on crossovers? Some of them aren't so bad.

When I first saw the name it immediately thought it was the TOYOTA VEZNA.

Thought it perhaps came with a goalie in the back with a minature trophy on the dash. Maybe the seats are made of hockey netting and the safety system comes with hockey pucks to knock you out before you crash and die.

@ash78: No one thinks about vehicles anymore in terms of serviceability. The tires will need to be replaced. 4WD means four sets of CV joints and transaxle plus differential. More and more crammed engine compartments increase service times. Heavier cars go through suspension pieces and brakes faster, etc etc..

I like it. The front looks like a cross between a Camry and a Honda Civic suffering from a rattle snake bite. The back end looks like a softened Ford Edge.

The AWD V6 model could be the replacement for the GranMa.

Same thing I always say when I see most of these new trucks, or even some of the Dodge Calibers, etc.

I'll never forget working in car sales when the Lexus IS300 first came out in the US. 15" wheels were pretty standard at that time, and I remember one irate customer going on and one about how much those 17" tires cost and how quickly they wore down. Now, that size is standard on many compacts.

Well, that's another one that does absolutely nothing for me. Aren't these new debuts supposed to move the automotive dialog forward in some fashion? What does this offer that the Highlander doesn't? For that matter, what a dozen of competing products don't already offer. Add to the redundancy the dull styling offset with some weird elements (grille anyone?) and this is yet another Toyota that I would never add to my consideration set.
Despite all that, I'm sure it's a perfectly competent car.
