Yeah, we know it's a mule. The point is, the world doesn't need yet another crossover.

We want cars that are cars. BMW used to be really good at making awesome driver's cars. The whole X series of crossovers and V series of WTFs are answers to questions nobody asked.

...and I would go back to driving my Subaru, but I took the Jeep today.

Dear above commenters, you do realize that this is a spy shot, with HEAVY disguise... There is probably not a single piece of exterior sheet metal that you will see in a finished product. This cars sole purpose in life is to give the engineers an idea of how it all works, how well it handles and so on. So stop this stupid an in this case just plain pointless BMW bashing an go drive on in your exiting Toyotas and Subarus...

Those flared arches on the STI are absolutely ridiculous. If I'm honest I would have gone with 1980's style rubber wheelarch extensions (which would be in keeping with the 80s ness of the rest of it.)

I don't give a fuck about the X1, but thanks anyway.
