$5 a gallon, i'll take that. SYDNEY AUSTRALIA. You know DOWN UNDER, thru MEXICO turn HARD right at CHILE and whammo BONDI beach. Around $1.35 a LITRE average 4.55 litres per gallon = $6.14p/g. LUCKY my old Battle Bomb runs on LPG .50-.65 CENTS a litre.
Last year you could get a litre for .40-.45 cents. As for the Camaro we will just have to WAIT WAIT WAIT and see. GMs like that other bloke who works in mysterious ways.

Very nice, my loan should be paid off on the semi-economical 4 door sedan a few months after the initial release. Finally my 3rd gen RS will have a bigger brother.

I have a funny feeling that the "muscle car" resurgence will be an afterthought in 2009, as North America grapples with $4/gallon gasoline and every mullet-head who wanted a new muscle-coupe will have already bought a Mustang or a Challenger. Sure, there are probably going to be some bowtie and F-body devotees who will snap up the first ones, but if dealers aren't going to see production units until February 2009, it might be a case of "too little, too late".

There will most certainly be base-level and "RS" models to flesh out the line in the sub-$30k price point (hopefully low 20s), just as there always have. But hopefully they don't do what Chrysler is doing and only come out with the all-singing-all-dancing top-end model first.

And what the heck are they going to show at all the auto shows between now and then? The same old concepts? GM baited that hook almost two years ago, and fickle audiences may already be looking elsewhere.

I really like the new Camaro, but isn't this going to be about a year late to the party? I thought Maximum Bob was the man when it came to fast tracking concepts into production like the Dodge Viper, Pontiac Solstice and modern Pontiac GTO?

I'm all about the LED/Cylon Camaro! I REALLY want to buy one, but I don't know if I can hold out that long! I also don't understand why GM has this thing with releasing "summer cars" during the fall or winter (like they did with the Solstice).

One more complaint- have you noticed that with the exception of maybe the 'Bu, GM is spending a lot of money advertising cars that are not coming out for a LONG time? I've seen all sorts of billboards for the Camaro and Volt around Detroit, not to mention the TV ads featuring those two cars!

Why would the production model come with 15" rims? The fourth gens had 16" as stock, and most cars nowadays come with 17's.

I'm just hoping they keep the hood almost the same.

Its so dang BIG! why do they have to make cars for giant people? Small of size (less waste/consumption) is evolutionarily superior. Plus the size ruins the proportions of the very camero they are modeling this one off of.

This front end is so unattractive as a concept, I can only imagine how bad it will be once it becomes a production base model and ends up with cheaper trim, no "expensive" driving lights and 15" wheels. Factor in a front plate mount for the states that require one and it just gets worse.

Scott Settlemire has said on Camaroz28.com that production will begin in late 2008 with cars in dealerships first quarter 2009.

They can't keep pace with the Challenger release since Camaro is on an all new architecture and will be built at a completely retooled plant. Challenger is built on a shortened Charger platform on an existing line, which allowed it to get to production more quickly.

I'll probably be starting my mullet and handlebar mustache sometime early next summer just to make sure I'm suitably bushy by early '09.

Ive seen what they are doing to the true production car.. it looks like hell. I live here in Detroit, so i get to see all the trash coming from GM.
GM is doing another gotcha, they come out with a cool looking CONCEPT but when it goes to PRODUCTION, it looks nothing like the Concept.
The Wheels arent as big or as nice, the styling isnt as sleek, the front end looks screwed up.
It will not be the car you see in these pics.... so get used to a lame looking camaro, even though the concept one isnt all that great.

Feb 09? I dont believe that. Liek you said, thats way too long. By then Challenger will have been on the streets for almost a year.

A good friend of mine is one of, if not the top engineer who has headed many a project for GM when it comes to 're-tooling' their assembly lines, and he was asked to lead this project in Oshawa, Ontario. I could not believe it, but he declined because of his obligation to another contract and the weak U.S. dollars they would pay him. This guy has pictures of him with GM brass signing the front of the first CTS ever made! What an opportunity missed with this car.
