I have actually used an only slightly clunkier approach for a while now: I create bookmarks for some of my favorite fellow Commentors in a Bookmarks folder in Firefox I have labeled "Automotive" and peruse the recent goings-on of my favorite Commentors. Accomplishes a similar goal with only a little more effort on my part.
