I love the GTR, but the numbers simply do not add up. 3800lbs and 480hp will not get you to 60 in 3.5 seconds. I've read there are various flavors of the car that have more hp and less weight, but that info has been rather ambiguous. Not to mention those other versions will surely increase the price (I've heard near 100k), and if that is the case the performance vs price point is moot.

Nice did a great job; I'm sure this car is nothing short of a technological marvel, but when it comes to fast cars at a cheap price you can't beat the Z06 (and neither can the GTR ^^).

They're using the VR engine out of their old Le Mans race car, not the VQ... supposedly... We know it's also being worked on by Cosworth... So... it will probably sound like the fire-spitting monster it ought to, not like a car that will give you a headache after twenty miles.

The price range of this car is slated to be in the high 60k to 80k. This is not a mainstream production car range, but small niche market sport car range. These aren't going to sell like camrys.

But the interior is a hot mess. The air vents on the left are at a different level than the ones for the driver, and we get a mashup of circular, square, and toggle switches. Back to design school! But if goes like they say it does, who cares.

2. The design isn't as boring and soulless as 99.99999% of all other Japanese cars these days, but still doesn't approach the average German sports coupe or even the Corvette.

3. They'll sell more than a few of them to the affluent asian rice-rocket tuner set, and it'll develop a cult following like the 280Z, 300Z and Supra, but never really take off as a production car.

4. Fifteen year old suburban kids with no taste or frame of reference will also love them (especially in colors like yellow or neon green), but they're not the ones who buy cars.

Considering the lengths Nissan goes through to make their cars controllable at their handling limits and in adverse weather conditions, I'd imagine the new GT-R will in fact run with a 911 Turbo on a race track.

It may be a tick behind on the drag strip, but it won't come as any surprise to true car aficionado's that the next GT-R is just as capable as the latest Porsche 911 Turbo. Considering that is exactly how it has played out over the past decade, I don't see why it would change now.

America, just wait until you hear about all the praises GT-R's get.
