The Turbo X will also include the neat eLSD from scratch which, later on, will be an option for the other cars. The eLSD is an rear active electronic differential that enables variable power outtage on the rear wheels which you'll usuallly only see on cars like the F430 or the Veyron.

This is not, and I say it again, is not, an attempt to be an S4/335i. If that had been the case the series wouldn't have been limited to 2000 vehicles. It's simply a way of introducing the new, and fucking unbelievably cool, Haldex XWD and at the same time make some extra money by launching it with a special and tempting version.

Saab needs more money, and this is a excellent way to make that happen; and for those who's in doubty-doubt, wait for this Turbo X and the upcomming 9-5 - Saab will live again!

Methinks that GM should not get all the blame, because Saab was on the verge of bankruptcy before GM swooped in. However, GM isn't doing Saab any favors by trying to pretend versions of the 9-3 or 9-5 are high-performance sports cars. Saabs never were and never should be marketed in the same league as the RWD autobahn burners. For one thing, 300 HP delivered to the front wheels only sounds ludicrous to me.

Forgive me for using the B-word, but this is what Saab has always represented. Saab is the European equivalent of Buick: not the flashiest, not the mostest by any measure, but super comfortable and well-built; a tremendous value. And yes, Buick had quite a few sleepers: the Grand National was an impressive beast, as this Aero X may be. The high-value, middle-of-the-road formula works as long as another company doesn't undercut your prices (as Toyota and Honda have been successfully able to do to Buick in North America). This traditional value selling proposition and a bit more refinement (again, Buick and Saab were abandoned for years while GM spent all its attention building bigger trucks for the last decade) would serve Saab well.

But still, GM, stop trying to pass off high-HP FWD cars as competitors to RWD and AWD German sports sedans. You'll never win a market attempting that. Go back to Saab's roots and offer the efficient, stylish, well-built, versatile vehicles that Saabs used to be, at better prices.

The return of vehicles like the 90, the 900 hatchback, and the Sonnet would be a good renaissance for Saab. And an AWD Aero-X, that'd be fine too!

I've outrun brand-new 9-3 Aeros in it (and yes, I do mean the back-assward V6 9-3.) V6 engines are supposed to be for the larger model (9000, 9-5, etc.), not the small-end one. What Saab needs now is a new 900, and a new 90, because the 90 (anyone remember it?) was a great small car.
