Okay, most of the people are joke commenters, right? This car is going to take back the #1 spot from Toyota, if Honda's dealer network has the chops to move the cars (Toyota has a superior dealer organization). This car is exactly right and when you see it on the street, you will be amazed at how good it looks, and how ridiculous most of these comments look. When that day comes, check back here and give me the props, because I assure you, it's coming.

Kudos goes to the new 2008 Honda Prelude...I mean Accord coupe. The sedan is having an identity crisis though. I have the 06 Accord Sedan, and I am not thrilled, but pleased. However, if I am at a showroom and my choice is between a brand new 06 Accord and the 08...I think I will go with the earlier model. The 06 is more Honda-ish. The new model seems to be a cross between the current Camry (front) and the Altima (rear), with a dash of the new and FUGLY Sebring thrown in for good measure.

These are definitely the best shots yet of the new Accord. Unfortunately, "best" does not apply in any way towards the actual exterior design of the car.

This one's a snoozer, people. When I bought my '03 Accord sedan, the front was actually kinda edgy for the time (keep in mind what the Camry looked like at the time). My dad thought it kinda looked like the Audis at that point.

Now, it seems like Honda ripped off Hyundai after Hyundai ripped off Honda.

I'm up for a new vehicle soon, and I'm sorry, but I like just a little bit of style in my wheels. What little there was in '03 when the last new Accord rolled out is now gone with this new Accord. There's lots of other choices out there, though. Time to explore!

The front looks better than current Accord. The rear is about the same, it's got an Acura RL droop going. I'm not sure why they picked that grille design, I guess all the distinctive ones (Aston Martin, Audi, Ford razor, Subaru x 4) are taken.

There's no reason for a car to have a chrome grille and huge plastic light covers, but they all do. So every mid-range sedan looks more and more the same, just like SUVs are indistinguishable. The ONLY model advancing sedan styling is the Prius, because it has some actual engineering goals.

@Cam68: You know, for the most part I really have to concur... My priority is reliability and Hondas have that. I don't give a damn about looks. I'm thinking my next car will probably resemble the carcass of a rotting wart hog, and smell accordingly. (Although I might add some chrome prisma-tape striping along the door edges and stuff to add a touch of bling.)

You know what's really dull? Sitting beside the road watching other people drive by because your car screwed up. Hondas do that to you less often than most, and that's why lots of people buy them.

I've never understood why people care so much about what the exterior of a car looks like. You can't see it when you're inside.

It's almost like they're trying to, you know, impress people or something.

Another thing...some interesting interaction continues between Sonata and Accord. When the 2006 Sonata debuted, many noted that it looked like an Accord from the rear.

Now the new Accord looks like the Sonata up front!

When have Accords ever been style leaders? Honda takes very few design risks, so I wouldn't expect them to do it with their flagship. I love me some S2000 goodness, but their volume products have always been sorta bland. I'm sure the interior will be nice, though.

On a related subject, I got to drive a Fit this weekend. Really cool little car.

Front end of the Sonata, C-pillar from the Altimaxima, and back end of a Lexus LS? And those fog lamps are right off the new Impreza (meaning: they don't match the rest of the styling). Everything's angles and planes, but then the fogs are roundy. No... doesn't work.

Hondas were never known for being beautiful cars, but at least they were inoffensive... this here is downright UGLY.

what we have here is a generic formula with a few design details that are white bread appealing. Overall, a 'nice' design but, breaking no new ground and not easy to distinguish as a Honda.
That is the biggest design flaw of all.
