Hrmm, a few statements. When Ford decided to scrap IRS on the Mustang, they significantly changed the design of the platform, making it very difficult and expensive to put IRS back in.

And frankly, I like the retro movement. It takes yesterdays designs and pushes the wheels to the corners and does things that couldn't be done back then. Frankly the new Challenger is going to be just perfect with that, and the Mustang is damn close.

Something that my brother and I have discussed for years (along with probably so many more people for even longer) -- the tooling of those and other such popular cars are likely held by the big three for at least another 50 years, if not till the sands of time melt away into nothingness. OR theyll ask for the soul of each person who buys one of the new-oldies as collateral.

I have an idea. In light of the fact that all sheet metal design has been downhill since the muscle car days, let's screw this whole retro movement and do it right. Just build Camaros and Mustangs with the exact late 60's sheet metal but today's power, safety, engineering, and build intelligence. Good god, can you imagine the fabulousness?

Slap on functional quarter window and rear brake scoops, give it HIDs, up the power with a SCd Cammer, put the standard V6 grille / headlight area and make the spoiler more of a ducktail...and then a price tag only $7k more than the standard GT500.
