As part of a recent agreement between Nissan and Chrysler, the next-generation full-size light duty truck, the 2011 Nissan Titan, will be based on the new 2009 Dodge Ram. In return, Chrysler will get a much needed small car and the heartfelt gratitude of Carlos Ghosn. We've asked the good folks at KORSDesign to render up what they think the next-gen Titan's going to look like. At today's Motor Press Guild meeting out in Cali, Chrysler's Jim Press confirmed to PickupTrucks.com Mike Levine that the new next-generation Nissan Titan will not only be built on the Dodge Ram platform — which we've already confirmed — but that yes, that thing would have a Hemi. Sweet. Although Nissan may still be denying it, Levine's got more at his site. Nissan was kind enough to provide us with some time to answer questions about their new Nissan-Chrysler Platform Swap. For those who haven't been following the news, Dodge is going to build the next generation full-size truck for Nissan based on the upcoming Dodge Ram platform. In return, Nissan is going to build a small car for Dodge based on one of their, currently unnamed, platforms. Both companies claim that the cars will have unique designs and interiors so they're not to be mistaken for mere badge-reengineered vehicles. Both vehicles will be sold in North America but, because neither will go on sale this decade, details remain limited. Information on possible hybrids, names and powertrains below the jump. More »

If a 500bhp Cayenne Turbo isn't a good starting point for a tuner car, we don't know what is. Adding 50bhp and 96lb/ft of torque (for a total of 612lb/ft) the Titan BTR 550 should live up to it's monstrous name. In addition to the engine mods, the Titan benefits from a sports exhaust that's switchable between loud and not-so-load, air suspension and an aerodynamically efficient carbon fiber body kit. It's also available with 22" wheels up to 11.5" wide. No word on what sort of premium the Titan will carry over a stock $93,700 Cayenne Turbo, expect that info at the Geneva Motor Show. Our friends over at PickupTruck.com have one heck of a big giveaway. One could even say it's a Titan-ic giveaway if one was predisposed to puns. Luckily we're not. But, whether punny or not, they're giving away a 2008 Nissan Titan PRO-4X Crew Cab. Only if you're the winner then it's a little bit more than just a stock truck you'll be driving away with. The readers of the site will help by voting on a custom job for the Titan and the PickupTruck.com folks'll be doing a series of videos of the build. Once they're done <strike>total screwing up a perfectly good truck</strike> customizing the Titan from top to bottom, they'll give it away to one lucky reader. Want to be that reader? Then head on over and drop your name in the hat. The Japanese seem unable to make a home-market vehicle ad without surrealism and/or serious macho voiceovers, and we love them for it. This one shows the Mazda Titan flatbed miraculously loading an elephant in the back. Whether or not Toyota's new Tundra turns the pickup market into its, uh, personal assistant, one thing's for sure: Nissan's screwed. Well, not screwed, per se, but most definitely in a bad spot. With sales falling off and questionable customer loyalty, the company's truck program will likely shrink even further into the backfield, barring a radical overhaul. But it won't be this year. As The Car Connection reports, Nissan's new Titan, set for unveiling at the Chicago show next month, is getting a facelift. No details yet, though unless said facelift is accompanied by more power, better mileage, better towing capacity and a larger bed, it'll be like spitting into a headwind. Or an aging cyclops going in for an eye job. Something like that. – Mike Spinelli More »

Nissan showed what it can do when it gets all hopped up on goofballs and drives out to the Tokyo suburbs on cruise night. The company unveiled its Onyx concept, which is a tricked-out version of its Titan pickup, donning a front body kit stolen from a Japanese Transformer van, 20" chrome wheels and other blinghys.
