here's a picture of the GreenGT H2's show car. remember that this is the hydrogen-electric car that will run the 2013 24 hours of le mans from the 56th garage stall if they are successfully able to build the car and prove it can run the full race by early june 2013.
the only garage 56 entry for 2013, the hydrogen-electric greenGT, will start the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2013. providing it actually gets built, that is. it's obviously not as viable as the deltawing.
Xander found this on eBay. Dealer customized 1985 Toyota van with some gorgeous stripes and, apparently, an ice maker. 131,000 miles with a Buy It Now price of $7995. Bidding is currently at $3050.

interesting that they did this on hildebrand's car, which went out on round 1 of the pit stop competition, and not servia's, which lost in the final. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
America's newest car museum is secheduled to open, displaying Harold Lemay's lifetime collection, which Guinness considered the largest private car collection in the world. It's about 30 miles south of Seattle, in Tacoma, WA. I plan on taking my dad for father's day.
Hooray for Lemay! I drive by this about twice a month. Definitely going to stop inside next time. It's a pretty sweet structure, if nothing less. Butts up right next to the Tacoma Dome. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
The LeMay Family Collection is another must see in the area. It features about 500 cars out of the LeMay collection and is housed in the old Marymount Military Academy in Tacoma. I went about a month or two ago and it is definitely worth checking out. [www.lemaymarymount.org]#oppositelock(Edit comment)
Cool, thanks. The article said the new museum will have a rotation of cars of display, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some cross-polination going. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Yeah they made it sound like some of the higher end cars like the 1948 Tucker Model 48 would be loaned from the LeMay Family Collection to the museum. The cool part about the Family Collection though is that is it is more like walking through someones garage and is left very much how Harold LeMay left. One of the coolest things I saw there was a garbage truck that Harold LeMay was driving back from Chicago not long before his death and along the way he saw a car he had to buy(I believe it was a model T or something similar). So he loaded it into the back of the garbage truck and it is still there and on display that way. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Oh yeah I'd love to see both offered. Ford, PLEASE bring the Focus wagon and 2-door hatch Fiesta to the US. Please!!!!!!!!!!! #oppositelock(Edit comment)
American Le Mans Series announced for Circuit of the Americas
Circuit of the Americas organizers today announced that the American Le Mans Series will race at the circuit beginning in the spring of 2013.
"The ALMS features a unique, multi-class auto racing format that brings together five diverse and technically-driven categories of international racecars in battles of endurance at speeds topping 180 mph," circuit officials said in a statement. "The Series is based on the world’s greatest endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in France."
Just got a text from my contact at VW. Apparently, the president of Audi just resigned, very unexpectedly. COO Mark Del Rosso is taking over until a replacement can be found.
Maybe he feels guilty about only offering the A3 TDI as automatic FWD, and not offering us the A6 Avant at all, no RS6 Avant, no RS4 Avant. He won't be missed. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
it's because it's a boring tilke track (albeit a good one by tilke standards) and will instantly become the second worst top level road course in america (behind IMS infield) when it opens. the layout is awful, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a huge stage, and a huge stage is always good for the ALMS (not to mention the huge stage obviously being good for F1 in the US). #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Well, there's no way Indy and F1 will ever share a circuit in the same year, Bernie will make sure of that. You're missing Grand Am and World Challenge. WEC won't come, they want the 12h of Sebring and aren't going to do more than one US race. They also don't want to share events with ALMS anymore. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Bingo, it'll be a boring track, but the more money it makes, the better chance it survives, and the more chance of F1 coming back and kick-starting American interest in road racing again. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Laguna has a single sequence of two corners that are interesting, all the other corners are pretty mundane. I'm completely over that track. #oppositelock(Edit comment)
Indy GP has zero flow but more importantly zero elevation. I really like LS though. T11 sets up great passing opportunities into Andretti Hairpin and though to T3. I actually like T6 more than the corkscrew, once I learned the secret to how drivers drive it (aim for the two trees) it's no more dramatic than any other chicane. T6 is a highly cambered commitment kink, great place to gain or lose time.
Sebring it's more about the history, same with say Monza or Monte Carlo. However, the bumpiness into sunset bend makes for a great corner, and the rest of the course is a good mix of fast and slow corners.
Not my favorite US road course (Road America and Mid-Ohio), but far from the worst. That would be Lime Rock Park ;)
The IMS infield would be soooo much better if they did a Parabolica-like corner off of T1, which flows into a sweeping Gilles Villeneuve like run from there, through Brickyard Crossing, finishing off in a Maggots-Becketts-Copse set of esses finishing with set of sweepers back to the S/F straight. And have Indy native Pete Dye add some elevation to the Brickyard Crossing area, along with a shit-ton of trees.
That said, I wouldn't mind Long Beach going back to the F1 circuit if IndyCar decides it wants to self destruct again. #oppositelock

Of course, they may make both RSs, but that would probably be too expensive.

Actually, V8SC supported the F1 race at Abu Dhabi, didn't they? Could be awesome. #oppositelock
(Edit comment)Sebring is terrible, there's no flow to it. Almost as bad as the Indy GP course.
