This Is What It's Like Doing 130 MPH At The Le Mans Circuit

The Audi A8L TDI might not have been the sort of turbocharged diesel Audi spectators expected to see blasting down the Le Mans circuit. But thanks to a bunch of crazy journalist having the best time ever, they just did.

Let's face it: the R18 e-tron quattro is a rather uncomfortable car. Therefore, the reasonable choice for the Circuit de la Sarthe is an A8L. It still got turbodiesel power for economy, but it also comes with more legroom, massage seats plus a navigation system that knows the Mulsanne Straight and the Porsche Curves inside and out.

Since insurance is off the table once you're on a racetrack, Audi told the driver of the safety car not to go faster than 110 mph. Fortunately, he completely ignored these guidelines and went so fast enough in his RS6 that we had room to reach 130 at some point.

Not bad for a bunch of Le Mans rookies.
