This Is The Fastest Ever Lap Around Daytona International Speedway

Ford took to Daytona International Speedway with a Crawford Daytona Prototype powered by its new EcoBoost race engine for one reason: To set the track record. They did it, and this is what it looked like.

The Ford EcoBoost powered DP ran on the oval, not the road course, with the express intent of beating Bill Elliott's 1987 record of 210.364 in a stock car.

They obliterated it by 12 MPH, setting a speed of 222.971 MPH. It's not the exact same thing as being in a stock car, but it's still damn impressive.

Team owner Michael Shank and driver Colin Braun took some time to talk about it after and what it meant, check it out.
