At first glance, pitting a French hot hatchback against a 550 horsepower Audi R8 V10 Plus for a track test doesn't seem like a remotely fair fight. But this ain't no ordinary hatchback.

In this latest track test from EVO magazine — and they've been putting out some really good ones lately — Dickie Meaden tests the aforementioned R8 against a Renault Clio Cup racecar.

No, it's not that Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R that blew up the Nürburgring a few weeks back. It's a Clio turned into a legit race car with a stipped-out interior, roll cage, racing slicks, a paddle-shift gearbox, a racing suspension, and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 220 horsepower.

Yes, the power difference is huge. But so is the weight difference. This what happens when you pit a fast sports car against a race car.
