Let's say you're a college kid looking to start a little bit of racing in rallycross or rally. You figure you're gonna get a Subaru, but how much car does a few grand get you?

That's the question asked by episode two of My Life As A Rallyist. It turns out, it gets you a good bit of car, so long as you know a shop that specializes in Subarus.

As far as I can tell, pretty much the best thing you can do if you're thinking of buying a car is getting to know a mechanic or shop that specializes in cars like the one you're after. I know it works for everyone who happens to know the wonderful Dominick's up in White Plains, NY, and it sure seems to work for Ryan here.

Now I need to go find a shop that specializes in old Toyota Tercels.
