Hurley sees video "as a big part of what we do at U.S. F1." So, what, they'll be StreetF1re.com? [Reuters]

<![CDATA[Jalopnik Contributor To Pick Up Ford Fiesta]]> 'Twas a long fought battle, but the Fiesta will soon be mine! Here's how you can follow my adventures, trials and all-purpose Ford Euro-flavored tomfoolery. For starters: picking up the Fiesta.

I'm counting down the last couple of hours before I head to Detroit Metro Airport for my flight to Chicago where my Squeeze Green (not pink) Fiesta waits. All of you made this happen by watching my hypnotic swaying and I thank you. Expect daily hoonage, awkward road trip moments and everything in between in stunning high definition from now 'til November.

How can you keep track of all this insanity? I'm glad you asked: You can follow me on Twitter, add me as a friend on Facebook and track me on the official Fiesta Movement page.

Now, off to the store to pick up a Buddy Christ statuette and a two pound bag of beef jerky; I've got a plane to catch.

<![CDATA[Jalopnik Contributor Reveals His Ford Fiesta-Sized Movement]]> We couldn't let the Fiesta Movement contest go without submitting an entry and since it'd be unfair for Jalopnik to enter one, I decided to enter one on my own. Guess what? You can help!

Ford tells me in choosing entries, they're looking for an ability to draw both comments and YouTube views on the entry. So, here's your chance to shine as Jalopnik commenters. Go crazy! Let's get some serious comment traffic going here and some serious view traffic going over on YouTube to show FoMoCo what JalopMoCo is made of!

Be sure to hit the HD button if you're rocking a broadband connection — now you'll get me swaying in full digital glory.

<![CDATA[Mainstream Media Finds Major 'Merican Automaker On YouTube]]> The internet reporter for CNN's "The Situation Room" used her fancy touchscreen computer to highlight how GM has transformed its YouTube channel page from a place where it brags, into a place where, increasingly, it begs. Last year around this time there was video of people doing slam poetry about the Pontiac Vibe GT, but now, as we showed you earlier, it's all videos of guys in suits trying to explain why they deserve money from the government. We're not sure what's more depressing: the new Save GM videos or the fact it took the novelty of their use of YouTube to get CNN to finally show them. We're just waiting for video of a crying, sheet-covered Rick Wagoner screaming "Leave Detroit Alone!" into the camera. [CNN]

<![CDATA[Opposition Party Against Aussie YouTube Law]]> As we told you earlier, the New South Wales government is planning on crushing the autos of repeat hoonage-offenders and posting the video on the Internet for said hoons to watch at home. The New South Wales opposition party is against the action, with one official saying "their only answer is to crush cars. That's after the event. That is, after people have actually put their lives and the lives of other motorists and pedestrians at risk." While that may be true, we've been promised Falcon XR8's crashing into SS Utes and we'd be a little displeased if there's not going to be video of that. [AuBC]

<![CDATA[Aussie Hoons' Rides to be Crushed Under New "YouTube Law"]]> The New South Wales Government is fed up with illegal street racing and has decided to implement the "YouTube Law," wherein confiscated cars will be crushed in "crash test experiments" and then shown on YouTube for hoons to watch. Prompted by the deaths of two citizens in August in an alleged street racing accident, the police have confiscated nearly 300 cars for their little experiments.

While we kind of think watching heavily modified Falcons and Commodores plowing into each other is kind of awesome (it's sort of a big thing around here), we probably wouldn't feel the same way if we put forth the thousands of dollars for the mods. As soon as we find some of that video we'll happily share it with you. [AuBC]

<![CDATA[General Motors Joins Chocolate Eggs In Advertising On NBC-Fox's NewTube]]>

Congrats to the General on helping to put up the ducats necessary to pay for NBC/Fox's new GooTube competitor. That's right, GM's going to be one of the first advertisers on the new online video collaboration between the fair and balanced Fox and the peacocks at NBC. And we're glad to see it, because we think the world needs more boldly moving automakers willing to agree to buy advertising on a platform that doesn't yet exist, and will probably quickly become filled with videos of cats playing piano, ninjas and you know, other randomness. We also like that Cadberry's buying advertising on it as well, because we like the chocolate eggs and stuff.

<![CDATA[Lego Hoonage All Over YouTube]]>

Back when I played with Legos (high school) I was just happy to build cars and race them around the house. But throw in cheap digital cameras and YouTube and you get some serious Lego Hoonage. The above video is an example of Grand Theft Auto shot in stop motion with Legos. This is but one example of the many Lego car racing videos on YouTube. As you might expect, most of these feature Lego people getting run over. If I still had my tub of plastic bricks I'd probably start working on a Lego French Connection remake.

<![CDATA[Cadillac Seeks Street Cred, Creates YouTube Channel]]>

Looks like the luxe brand at the General's looking to gain some street cred by enlisting help from the wonderful world of web 2.0. They've enlisted the marketing mavens at Modernista! to create some kind of pseudo-YouTube channel and custom website to highlight their attempt to use the new CTS (photo gallery below) to bring Caddy to the masses. Will it work? Despite hiring Joan Jett (in front of CBGB, even!), Tiki Barber, Travis Barker and Fat Joe, we're going to have to go with "probably not." But bully for Caddy on the attempt!

<![CDATA[YouTube, Times Square Ringing Whoring In The New Year With Chevrolet]]>

Good job by Chevy in buying up any and every advertising possibility as the US of A rings in the new year. To capture the attention of the greatest of generations, Times Square will get a Chevy clock and the brand that brought you both the Corvette and the Aveo will be passing out plastic hats and some other silliness. And for those of us who happen to be a member of one of the lesser n' younger generations, the General's bargain brand's dropping its name on top of the service responsible for this year's Time Person of The Year — YouTube. The American Revolution's sponsoring an "upload your new year's greetings, get on the front page of YouTube" thing. Because yeah, I really give a rat's ass about some dude in Dubuque wishing me a Happy New Year. Who's making the calls on this new media anyway? I mean, if it's not a dick in a box somewhere, it's marketing like this.

<![CDATA[Top Gear Hoonage: Cadillac CTS-V vs. Audi S4]]>
Sure, you and everyone we know love Top Gear. But this is the epitome of a classic Top Gear segment ripping on us dumb Americans. However (and read that like Clarkson says it), the duel between Clarkson driving the Cadillac CTS-V and the Stig in an Audi S4 is some of the best race footage we've seen lately, anywhere. You're already watching anyway aren't you? Mission accomplished.

The boys across the pond put together a montage of their best bloopers and outtakes, and we're pleased to share it with you this Sunday as we prepare for the Big Apple's Auto Show festivities next week.
