Chicago Auto Show: Is The YES! 3.2 Roadster For Real? Yes!

We had a chance to check out the YES! 3.2 Roadster and YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo and we were, as opposed to other moments in the day, actually pleased with what we saw. We'll start with the good news. The base YES! Roadster 3.2 weighs 890 kg, sports a 255 hp VW V6 and scoots to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. The better news is that the YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo weighs only 930 kg, gets 355 horsepower out of the same engine and reaches 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The best news is that the super high performance version gets 415 hp, gets to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed near 200 mph. The bad news is that the base price for the 3.2 roadster is $77,995, putting it a little out of our range. The 3.2 Turbo comes in at a $20,000 premium over the normally aspirated version. All that scratch gets you a unique piece of German engineering, even more unique in the US, where the company only expects to sell 50 of them this year (starting this June) through an undisclosed dealer network. More pictures and press release below.

YES! 3.2 Roadster is Coming Stateside

YES! Have confirmed that the 3.2 Roadster will be sold in America. Usually, we in the US are left to look on in envy as Europeans get all manner of wacky low-volume sportscars, but the firm's parent company, Funke & Will AG (How's that for '80s flashback?), will be showing the vehicle at the Chicago Auto Show in February. Sales will commence later this year. The base Roadster has a 3.2L Volkswagen V6 with 255bhp powering 890kgs. A Turbo model brings 355bhp and a 0-60 time of 3.8secs, while a further 415bhp upgrade is capable of nearly 200mph. No prices yet, but the company plans on announcing which dealerships they'll be working with in late February, so expect more details then. Yes! The full press release follows the jump.

More on the Yes! Roadster

Thanks to the passionate ones at Motorpasi n for reminding roadster fans that the Audi-powered Yes! Roadster is in play across the pond. It's times like these that we wish the US had a wider culture of specialty carmakers (sure we love us some Cobra reps, but...) to bug for test drives. The Yes!, which was introduced last year at the Leipzig auto show, comes in two flavors, a 3.2-liter V6 version with 252 hp, and a 3.2 turbo version producing 350 hp. Keep in mind, this thing is around the size of a '93 Miata — though weighing slightly more than a Lotus Elise, at 2,050 lbs — which translates into a zero-to-60 time of 3.9 seconds for the turbo. Get we to the continent, lickety split. No s***. [Gallery] More »

Updated Yes! Roadster Unveiled in Leipzig

For those who missed the Leipzig motor show (sorry, we were washing our hair), Edmunds Inside Line fills us in on a newly updated roadster by specialty carmaker Tobias Funke & Will unveiled there. The midengined and gullwing door'd Yes! is powered by Audi's 3.2-liter V6 and weighs a mere 2,200 pounds, making it a direct competitor to the Lotus Elise. A 355 hp turbo version can get from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and a planned boost kit will add 30 equines to that equation. Base price is $72,000 but (all together now) no US version is planned.
