D3-Tuned XLR-V Cranks Out 600 HP; Brake Upgrades "Highly Recommended"

Cadillac tuners D3 Research have introduced a new three-step tuning package for the XLR-V that results in a Michelinferno-inducing 600 HP in top trim. Unfortunately, that sort of output isn't available with just a few simple tweaks: A complete engine rebuild is part of the package required to extract peak performance from the 4.4-liter Northstar V8, and owners are urged to opt for the "highly recommended" brake upgrades as well. Customers not wanting to go quite so far can opt for the stage one kit providing a new air-intake system, reflashed ECU, "performance spark plugs" and a high-flow exhaust system, adding up to a still-healthy 525 HP. Of course, if you just want your base XLR to look like a D3-tuned XLR-V, you can buy body trim and emblem kits separately. Poseur. [Motor Authority]

2009 Cadillac XLR-V Revealed, Along With A Load Of Images

When Cadillac dropped images of its fender-vented 2009 Cadillac XLR, we knew the XLR-V shots couldn't be far behind since they already gave us specs in the last go round. Well, there it is, amidst a new raft of XLR shots, sure looks like a 2008 Cadillac XLR-V with some fender vents slapped on. We're just glad to know it gets a 443 HP Supercharged Northstar V8 and keeps that sweet folding hard top. Though we'll have to see how the richies respond to that figure knowing the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is sporting a 556 HP monster mill.

    2009 Cadillac XLR Roadster, Revealed!

There's a lot of metal getting the official reveal this morning, isn't there? After showing off the new 2009 Porsche 911 just a few minutes ago, we're now seeing the upgraded 2009 Cadillac XLR taking its first baby steps into the morning sun. The General's luxe brand's taking the Art & Science design to new, more powerful heights with this brand new Caddy-vette with an all-new front fascia, rear tail treatment and side venting. The 2009 XLR will get two different editions to choose — the "base model" 2009 XLR Platinum and the high-performance 2009 Cadillac XLR-V. The XLR Platinum is equipped with a 320 HP (239 kW) 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine. The XLR-V, part of Cadillac's V-Series of high-performance models, is powered with a 443 HP (330 kW) 4.4-liter Supercharged Northstar V8 engine. Oh, baby, we're very happy this morning. Full press release below the jump. More »

    2009 Cadillac XLR-V

We were the first to show you shots of the new 2009 Cadillac XLR, now we've taken a jump to ludicrous speed with the first photographic evidence of the 2009 Cadillac XLR-V. The new hotness from Cadillac is getting the same wire-mesh grille we expect from the V-Series, and what looks to be a gigantic Cadillac badge smack-dab in the center of it. And oh yes, did we mention the "supercharged" logo on the side of the new stylin' Caddy? The only question is whether that super-ed-up engine will be the 4.4-liter Northstar V8 (443 HP) or the 6.2-liter LSA V8 (550 HP). Which do you think it should get? Hit the jump for the full spy report from Brenda Priddy's spy photographer and frequent Jalopnik contributor Chris Doane.

Rampant Speculation On 2009 Cadillac XLR, XLR-V

The forum fan-boys always on the Inside of News on GM are speculating on the next Cadillac XLR and XLR-V today. Although GM PR folks have been a bit cagey on a replacement for the XLR luxury sports convertible, it isn't stopping the General's fan-boys from rampant speculation gleaned from forums far and wide — mostly because of Rick Popely's little XLR name-drop in the Chicago Tribune on Sunday. Art and Science Indeed: Cadillac Does Xbox 360

Cadillac announced today it would offer a free, promotional content pack for Project Gotham Racing 3 on Xbox 360. The package includes all the accoutrements needed to race Caddy's three high-performance V-Series models: the 400hp CTS-V, 469hp STS-V and 443hp XLR-V. What's more, gamers who can finish in the top 100 in any of the models on the virtual N rburgring Full F1 Circuit can gain "Cadillac Elite" status, which will probably entitle them to certain privelages (prizes, downloads and some such) at some undetermined point in the future. No word on the existance of any hidden vid-game easter eggs or, say, cheat codes for a 1964 Coupe deVille or 1979 8/6/4-powered Seville. Well? More »

Between the Lines: Automobile on the Cadillac XLR-V

You may not believe this, but my mother always told me to be polite. I just never saw the point. Honest, yes, absolutely. But polite is so boring. Being snide, flip and nasty is so much more entertaining. (Why should drag queens have all the fun?) I guess that s the biggest problem with US automotive buff books: they re perfectly polite and deadly dull. This failing is easiest to see when magazines like Automobile review a real stinker like the new Cadillac XLR-V. How do you tear a substandard car a new asshole while, at the same time, kissing its ass? Over to you Mr. Johnson More »

New Cadillac XLR-V to Get Six-Figure Price Tag

The six-figure Cadillac is nigh, and it could be a coup for the perceived-value set. Caddy is pricing its tuner XLR-V at a cool $100,000 when it goes on sale later this year, just so everyone who really wanted a Mercedes SL55 AMG, but had to pay junior's junior college bill first, could have a consolation prize. Still, with disappointing sales of the XLR being blamed on "ramp up," we wonder whether the performance enhancements alone (zero to sixty in five seconds?) are enough to bring in sales at that level. Frankfurt to Host European Debut of Performance Cadillacs

Cadillac's new STS-V and XLR-V screamers will begin testing their factory-tuned mettle against Europe's finest highway stars, when the Northstar-powered, SAE-certified 469hp STS-V and 443hp XLR-V roadster go on sale on the old continent next year. Cadillac's angularly proportioned AMG-fighters, products of the new company's Art & Science design language, will premiere at the Cadillac booth in Frankfurt next month, ahead of a European sales launch in early 2006. Whether Caddy's new vision for itself translates into a palatable world brand remains to be seen, but at least they won't embarass themselves in the left lane. More »
