While this car may very well earn you bragging rights on your favorite message board, when you pull up in front of the local Hip-Hop establishment in this pile nobody, and I mean NOBODY is going to know what the heck it is, or care. Meanwhile, the footballer who rolls up in his plebian Lambo or prancing-horse car will be beating the ladies off with your connecting rods.
Um, could I borrow this car for a while? I want to visit a friend of mine and take it for a spin in the Irish Hills, Michigan area. I'll have it back by sundown, I promise.
I just can't get excited about this thing, I'm not really a fan of Shelby, and I can't help but think every time I see this thing, it looks like a very poor backyard lambo, I really truly mean that, it looks like it has all hallmarks of being built by a dude that had some idea about what he wanted to build, but didn't have the design skill to resolve it all correctly.
Well, I'm willing to bet there's not a road in America that would allow you to go 270 "safely" (disregarding speed limits of course). Then again, I guess it is just all about the bragging rights.
@Sloop_John_B: I recently did a pilgrimage to HWY 221 where they set their current record... how they managed 250 is completely beyond me. You look at it on a map and it looks nice and straight... it's not, there's a bunch of small turns and the road is far from flat, lots of little ups and downs and twists in the road. Really only one small section that seemed to be the slightest bit usable for a top speed run.
If they could pull 250 on that road I know of several where they could go much, much faster.
Compared to the Veyron, which could justifiably be dubbed as mankinds greatest automotive achievement, having the best Porsche (in the guise of the 9ff) is like having the greatest Casio watch compared to a Breitling Aerospace.
"Veyron killer" apparently refers to all street legal production cars that either match or approximate the Veyron's power and top speed. At this extreme end of the sports car spectrum, one looks to find cars with power outputs upwards of 800 bhp and top speeds upward of 220 mph. The "Veyron killer" need not be better than the Bugatti in every respect, it just needs to give you a fighting chance against one on the track.
Currently there are two cars likely to be in production that may qualify for this title.
1. Koenigsegg CCR 2. SSC Ultimate Aero TT
9ff's new GT9-R may be a tuning house car, but it could qualify if produced.
How very understated and quotidian looking. Much like the Veyron, it's cunningly disguised so it won't look like a racing car. The cops would never give that a second glance.

Sure there's the whole pilot's license thing, but hey - just how big of a hurry are you in?

SSC has nothing to do with him.
But they build one helluva cart.

...Would someone bring back a CanAm-esque racing series so we can actually see these cars running in real life?
