    @Novaload: Dranked.

    I imagine the whole crew retired to a local lounge for a celebratory libation after wrapping the piece. But there was no time to include that in the show.

    Alternatively, that could also have explained why lunch required 45 minutes. #kitcars

    Kit cars back then had more soul than they do today. Ever see the ad for the kit that makes a T-bird (not the retro roadster, the older ones) into a faux '50 Ford? Hideous. #kitcars

    @CptSevere: Their Camaro to '57 Chevy is equally horrendous. I want to know who the goofballs who buy those things are ... and steer clear of them. #kitcars

    Wow. Rear transverse leaf spring...so 2009 Corvette technology in 1947.

    Side note:

    LA to NY in less than 8 hours.

    Just a little rough around the edges, but entertaining.

    I also noticed that hoods have not become better attached in the past fifty years. #kitcars

    That '47 Ford would now be worth more alive than dead. The sad reality is that this can't be done to a 2001 Taurus in less 4 hours.

    I prefer not to think of my 2001 Saab as old and busted. But maybe it is. #kitcars

    Anyone notice that their "old and busted" car would be the equivalent of a 2001 these days? #kitcars

    @4130: Actually, if you look, they used 2 different cars. Initially they show a 1947 Ford 2 door, but the actual car the kit is built off of is a 1942 Ford (or is it a Mercury) 4 door sedan. The grilles are very different with the 1942 being the only year Ford had the 3 separate grille openings. They are mechanically almost identical as Fords in the immediate post war period were essentially the same as the pre-war models except for a mild facelift. Ford would not have a truly new model until 1949.
