As such, John Pszeniczny has taken inspiration from the racing series to create the F1/Carbon GMT watch. This design's a concept made of carbon fiber — we think to make it lighter so it can, you know, go faster — Swarovski crystals, rubber and metal. One particularly cool feature is the watch's ability to tell you the time at the 18 different F1 circuit cities — so you never, ever miss a race start. It also includes a lap timer, as well as a stop watch. Unfortunately although it's only a concept, we think Nike should totally snag the design and make them. Or maybe Heidi Fleiss. [Yanko via Giz]

<![CDATA[ Chinese Automaker Reveals Keyless Entry Wristwatch For When It's Time To Drive ]]> Leave it to the clever scientists at BYD Auto, who came up with the ferrous battery hybrid and the in-show test drive, to invent a new solution to keyless entry. Tired of carrying a clunky key fob everywhere you go? Try a sharp-looking watch that includes locking functions as well as wireless startup so you can start your car from your watch, just like Inspector Gadget! The watch is also kinetic, so you never run out of batteries. And that's not all BYD has up/on its sleeve.

BYD_Watch_Flyer.jpgThe company also plans to institute a "credit card" keyless entry system to replace those silly metal keys. Unlike the watch, we've actually seen this technology before (though it may be a step up for the Chinese market). If you want to look this cool you're going to need to purchase the Mercedes-esque BYD F8, as the technology is unavailable on the F6 and other models. Keep building your dream Chairman Wang Chanfu, and then driving us around in them. [The Tycho]

<![CDATA[ Toss the Kadett Watch, the Oceanus Manta is Here! ]]> manta_watch.jpg

We have friends who — along with their automotive fetishes — are watch geeks. Even poor schlubs with roommates. They flip over watches. They have a watch budget. They buy and sell them on eBay. We, on the other hand, are not so concerned with watches, although we wouldn't mind having a TAG Heuer or an understated vintage Rolex. Oddly enough our new dream watch comes from Casio. The just-released Oceanus Manta (Manta, people! Manta!) retails for more money than we can afford, but it'd look awesome on our wrist as we torpedoed down the backroads around Hahn, Germany in our Opel ponycar, foxtail flying from the antenna.
