I owned one of these!! It was back in '77 - '78, I was working as a Datsun mechanic out of my garage and I needed a "parts runner." I picked the car up for $200. I put in a new battery, a "new" set of used tires, rebuilt the brakes and I had to install a couple of trailer brake lights/turn signals because the stock rear lights just wouldn't work. Rather than waste my time trying to track down the problem, I just bypassed it. Anyway, it had a 289 (2 bbl) with a 2-speed slushbox and got 10 mpg no matter how I drove it. I sold it for $200 and it was still running real good. I don't recall the mileage but the car had seen a busy life for sure.

Go off to college driving the family's old '70 Ford wagon, and you become the airport shuttle and the taxi for late-night trips to Farrell's Famous Ice Cream Parlor. Navigating Pasadena's older, narrow city streets was an adventure in that aircraft carrier. Mom & Dad's Chevron card meant I didn't have to worry about the low fuel economy.
@Charles_Barrett - Now with Variable-Valve Timing: I wish I had been your friend in college. My friends all drove subcompacts. Unlike high school, when my friends drove a Chevy Caprice, a Mercury Montclair, and an olds cutlass wagon (among others).

Also, nephew said, "That's not a Camry. It's a wagon."
Me: "It's a Camry wagon. Not terribly common, but a tidy small midsize wagon for the anonymous suburbanite in you."
Nephew: "Ew? Pass."

ANY other Camry. This one, at least, has the saving grace of being a wagon.

Though, I can think of many a vehicle which should have gotten it over a Camry estate.

Odd choice on the 352 in a Squire. Figure if you were splurging for the Squire, you might as well upgrade to the 390.
