    Voodoo Curse? Sweet.

Really though, this engine belongs in a Chrysler LeBaron Von Samedi.

'57 was a damn good year for most cars, Buicks included.

This thing is a low, lean, dark machine. Just brilliant in design and execution.
But I wouldn't want to live next door to this guy. Wait, I would. No--yes. I'd chance it.

Is it just me or is he missing an intercooler? Wouldn't that limit him to probably 5 psi boost? Maybe he doesn't need an intercooler with such a monstrous turbo?

I suspect the turbo is only there for looks and doesn't really help much.

@optimusprime8: It's not the size of the turbo, it's the act of compressing air that makes it hot. So yeah it's probably safe to assume it's running less than 10psi, but even helping a high compression (or at least not low compression for forced induction) engine breathe at even 1psi will increase its power quite noticeably.

What I'm a little scared about is how the compressor is placed AFTER the carburetor, meaning it's compressing the fuel/air mixture. I'm not at all familiar with carb'd turbo setups so I don't know if that's atypical or necessary or what but it looks crazy to me.

@metal face eagle premium: It's not uncommon to have the turbo after the point of fuel insertion. Otherwise you'd have to pressurize the carb, and there's no way your standard old carb could handle that: you'd have gas squirting out from all of the seals.

Something tells me that practicality wasn't this guy's primary motive.

I don't generally go for this sort of thing, but that dash is awesome, straight-sixes are near and dear of course, and I love the fins on the box, although the box itself looks like an afterthought. Crowning touch for me is the window-crank (or doorhandle maybe).

@reefer: Even enlarged, I was forcefully reminded of the voracious throw-rug in Creeping Terror (1964) [www.imdb.com] A movie that I heartily recommend if only so you can correct your Ebert-wannabe friends that parrot the tired old fallacy that Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space is the quote-fingers worst movie ever made. Friendly warning however, unless you're a highly experienced conniseur of cinema fromage, do not attempt this movie without MST3K and/or a Reefer Madness-level high.

That turbo setup is a nice change to the "huge blower on a V8" look. I wonder how much torque that six outputs once the turbo winds up.

    Love it.

@engineerd thinks cannoli is deserving of a star: Pretty damn long, it's probably pushing 18 feet. It sits low because it's laying frame, riding on bags. Not to say it isn't low, because it is, long and low and wide, those giant back wheels from an old Buick make it look even meaner too.
