As fas as I know (based on a FIAT press release from a few months ago) BMW is going to bring Alfa Romea (Fiat) back in the US, not Chrysler.

Now for Volvo... I just had an open V70 convertible in front of me... my goodness, how ugly is that car... there is nothing Volvo about Volvo anymore.

The Fuji Heavy Industries idea is the best one yet! I'd love to see the Swedish / Subaru merger done properly this time. However, the last effort branding Impreza's as Saab's may have ruined it for some people.

@Vrette: Probably not a good idea to have non-car guys running the show. That's the worry for Big 2.1 right now. Sweden's problem is that pension demands and tax rules in recent years led to much greater foreign ownership in Swedish corporations; if Sweden relaxed its stance, these corporations might stand a better chance of competing independently in the global marketplace. (Imagine that! Volvo and Saab might actually build great cars like they did in the 80s.)

But given the global nosedive, I doubt Sweden will liberalize anything anytime soon.

@graverobber- My Yugo Nova!: That depends. Which is worth more at the moment? Considering how they're fluctuating, I'll chip in whichever's cheapest.

I don't particularly want a Volvo, but if it's a good deal, and the seller's desperate, it might be worth it.
