At last! A driver who cusses --when I see these videos, I'm always surprised that the drivers may grunt or squeak but none of them seem to cuss a blue streak, which is what I would do. And do, in fact, do when I'm driving alone.
I call it "Car Tourette's"-- you hear the damnedest foul words coming out of your mouth very loudly--sometimes I even surprise myself. So, nothing to apologize for, Dude. I thought you were rather restrained, under the circumstances.
@MushyHeirloom: Yeah, I should have qualified that--I try not to do it around people I don't know that well. Once, after a business meeting, I volunteered to drive our esteemed guests to the airport, a short but congested distance. I kept calm as idiot after idiot swerved in front of us, slammed on their brakes and did other typical bad moves. I was so absorbed in not having a wreck I kind of forgot about my passengers and finally yelled at the dawdling, swervy car in front of us, "PICK A LANE, GRANDMA!" Turned out ok, they thought it was funny and wondered why I hadn't ranted before.
The footage from this posting, as well as the MGB that went flying off into the grass shows that the speeds have increased at this venue. It also looks like the "Racecar" (RX-7, E30, Miata, Honda) is dominating over the "LeMons" cars.

I suspect that's a main reason that only half the prize money is based on laps completed. There's no way to keep a race from being about racing, but letting slower entrants have a chance at glory keeps the lemons coming.
@UDMan: Well, if you can get a "racecar" for under $500, then it is a LeMons Car.
There were tons of fast e30s, miatas and RX-7s, but you know what? No one even pays attention too them. They all blend together. It's the really crappy cars with good themes that people appreciate.
Most of the time the "serious" guys in the e30s end up getting all frustrated anyways, as they're (inexplicably) expecting competent driving and fair officiating...definitely not the case at LeMons.
I was on the V8lvo team, and I have to say what a great team effort it was! The driving was evenly divided and every one of the drivers were fast and stayed out of trouble. We only got two penalties the entire race, one for a simple 4-off and the other one I got for contact which dropped us out of the lead and set up the dramtic finish... If it had ended differently, you would have had to put me on suicide watch!! The support crew was incredible, too. Endurance racing takes a TEAM effort, and you can't win without everyone doing his own job well. Hope everyone enjoyed the show :)
Just amazing. Who would have thought there'd be multiple cars on the lead lap at the finish, much less fighting for the lead right up to the end. Safety triumphing over an extra meat pizza? I thought that was a legend that only had meaning in my drivers ed class.
Well done sturdy V8olvo! and congratulations to all the competitors. It sounds like it was a magnificent race, and it must have been even better to be in the thick of it.
Gnome-centric photo gallery. I did manage to walk the pits early Saturday morning and snap a lot of pre-race shots. Unfortunately not many action shots (of anyone else). A lot of time turning wrenches this weekend!
I've been a fan of the V8olvo since I first saw it here. I'm glad to see that this gnarly, raped, hooned, beaten on PCH miracle finally got it's due. Gawd, I'd love to take the driver's seat and roast this magnificent bastard's tires, and get it sideways. Congratulations.
@joneez helped you buy a new car: Mrs. PFG and I were at the Historics in 2004, and we ran across this same Volvo whilst walking the paddock early Saturday morning. "This is my favorite car here," she said, then added, "This might be my favorite car ANYWHERE."
The ending was amazing... I was sad our car didnt finish the race but I was happy to witness this finish. The WHOLE place was watching and cheering like crazy...
i dont think there was anyone at the even not watching anciously the last 4 laps of this race. except those dudes with the "$500.00" audi a4. but they jump ship saturday night!

I'd like to see the TR7 going again in all its damaged glory, too.
