If you like squeaks and squawks under the hood, check out this duck call blow off valve attachment. Might have LeMons possibilities. But it's also freakin' hilarious. Apparently there's a whole sub-culture of people putting bird and duck calls on turbos.

I'm still amazed that I haven't seen a single project that involves a reworked Triton V10. The Viper is just essentially a reworked truck engine -- although it gained far more fame and notoriety in the Viper -- so why not do the same with Ford's V10? Then, at least, you're keeping it all in the family.

Mr. Science, you listening? I seem to recall a Ford station wagon in your driveway that would make an excellent platform for such a conversion.

@Deartháir - Now with more Age™!: I've seen a couple of modular V10 swaps, complete with pics. I can go dig them up for you if you like, but the long and short of it is that it's kind of a shitty performance motor, is really heavy, doesn't rev, and sounds like shit. I haven't seen anyone do anything with the 3-valve Tritons, though, so maybe they're awesome^3, but I'm still disappointed that Ford never came out with the Boss 351 DOHC V10.

@despisethesun: I suppose the larger point I was aiming for was that the aftermarket never really touched it. All the traits you describe were similar traits for the predecessors of the engines of the '60s that we now idolize. Most started out as big beastly truck engines with mediocre performance and a lot of shortcomings, up until the point that some performance engineers fine-tuned them for a sports car rather than a truck. The Triton was set up for hauling, which meant it wasn't supposed to rev, it was supposed to provide torque. I've driven them, they do have torque, I'll say that. Someone needs to do a complete overhaul and rework one for horsepower instead.

Hmm. I wonder if I can find one... sounds like a fun project.

@POLAЯ MISSES THE OTHEЯ JALOPNIK: Dodge hasn't figured out how to orchestrate their exhaust systems. Challenger is meh both old and new and the Viper never gave me chills either. I'd take finally tuned exhaust notes over things like seats and silly looking shifters.

IMO, not to sound like a troll or an asshole, this is the biggest waste of cash, and the most stupid conversion I've ever seen. I can understand the true Jalop within this man, but I would have loved to have seen it on an older (or newer) Mustang, not on the (What is now getting to be) somewhat rare 1994-1998 version. Not only that, but massacring two cars, and putting them together seems rather silly. Why didn't he just opt for a regular Viper? Or a regular Shelby Cobra mustang?

If he wanted mt love, I would have loved to have seen an original Cobra 427 REPLICA with a Viper V10. Could you imagine that?

Instead, I see a stuffed in engine, some sort of monster inside of the car, that has to be rollcaged and restructured if only to hold all the weight of the truck engine up front.

Not only that, but I also dislike Mustang's very much, so it could be my inner Mustang hate talking, but I also prefer things to be restored, and although this is very... umm.. unique, that's one more Viper without an engine, and one less Mustang GT that isn't all original.

@Steve Neill: I doubt very much that the engine was sourced from a streetable Viper. While it was likely taken from a wrecked car, the Viper engine is (or at least was) sold as a crate engine, so there are more Viper engines than Vipers. As for the Mustang donor, it is probably my least favorite generation, aside from the Pintostang.

I'm a big fan of originality in regard to rare and desirable vehicles, and while sightings of this fairly short-lived generation are becoming increasingly rare, it will be several more years before it reaches my preferred level of rarity. Within the realm of ubiquitous vehicles, I'm a fan of "different".

I gotta say, I see nothing that I don't like about this.
