Attentive observers will notice my Sunbeam Alpine in exactly one of these pictures. It's a funny story. See, I spent countless hours getting the car ready for the Snowball Rally. I welded a patch into the floor, then painted and sealed everything; I changed all the fluids, flushed the radiator, took it on a few shakedown runs. Everything seemed to be okay. Better than okay, even-- the Alpine was running beautifully, and a slightly different exhaust gave it a nice growl. So I was really excited as the rally organizer waved me off at the start.
I got about fifteen feet before a new, unpleasant noise started coming from under the hood. My beloved Alpine had decided this was a good time to eat its fucking generator.
The Alpine was hors de combat, but I was allowed to bring my daily driver along instead, and I still had a great time on the rally. And on the second morning, I got some masking tape and a Sharpie and turned my BMW into an Alpine, too:

I'm already counting the days to the 2010 Snowball Rally. And I have a new generator.

Why can't traffic look like this anymore? Why can't we have cars with this much divine design anymore?

One of the things I miss about CA is the cool county names. Kings, Imperial, Alpine, Sierra, Napa, El Dorado, etc.
Here in GA we have names like Bibb, Bleckley, Butts, Cobb, Coffee, Dooly, Early.... and we haven't gotten to the F's. Way too many with far too dorky names.

Nope, and I'll never forget Glascock and Hancock, Bacon and Macon counties down here.
Although Bacon County has a nice, breakfasty ring to it.

I turned down an offer in Columbia, SC, after the Human Resources officer ask me what Church I'd be going to. And that was after I reluctantly accepted the position. Right after that question, I politely said that I've changed my mind, and that I have other opportunities closer to where I live.
