"In Kennedy-era America, whale hauls in boat."
Yeah, I know, that sucks. Love the pic, though.

I particularly like the picture of mini-skirted Suzy Creamcheese standing in front of the yellow '69 Camaro SS. She doesn't really seem like the type who drives an SS with fat blackwalls and plain hubcaps - maybe the car belongs to her JC-Penney-shirted main squeeze (is he taking the picture?). Makes you wonder what her life has been like in the 40 or so years since.

You mean this?
I think those are hearses. "Camp" may be the name of the funeral home.

Unfortunately I grew up in the 80s. By the time I was old enough to go on road trips I was riding in the back of mid 80s Monte Carlos with V8s and 25hp. By the early 90s I was riding in the back of a Ford Taurus that broke down on every trip we went on (foreshadowing my hatred of domestic cars).
Great pictures, I just wish it rattled the same memories that it does for you.

I LOVE exaggerations and overstatements! Such a great comical device!

This is almost too much awesomeness to take in all at once. It's cool though; I wasn't planning on getting anything done this afternoon anyway.

BUT MY CITY WAS GONE
THERE WAS NO TRAIN STATION
THERE WAS NO DOWNTOWN
SOUTH HOWARD HAD DISAPPEARED
ALL MY FAVORITE PLACES
MY CITY HAD BEEN PULLED DOWN
REDUCED TO PARKING SPACES
A, O, WAY TO GO OHIO
WELL I WENT BACK TO OHIO
BUT MY FAMILY WAS GONE
I STOOD ON THE BACK PORCH
THERE WAS NOBODY HOME
I WAS STUNNED AND AMAZED
MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
SLOWLY SWIRLED PAST
LIKE THE WIND THROUGH THE TREES
A, O, OH WAY TO GO OHIO
I WENT BACK TO OHIO
BUT MY PRETTY COUNTRYSIDE
HAD BEEN PAVED DOWN THE MIDDLE
BY A GOVERNMENT THAT HAD NO PRIDE
THE FARMS OF OHIO
HAD BEEN REPLACED BY SHOPPING MALLS
AND MUZAK FILLED THE AIR
FROM SENECA TO CUYAHOGA FALLS
SAID, A, O, OH WAY TO GO OHIO

I used to have cousins up in Hicksville, and some friends from Columbus. Nice folks.

Damn, now I know how people like Graverobber, POLAR, and Dearthair felt when a new wave of n00bs came in.

Nice, looks like I'll be you-tubing some Yogi Bear tongight.
That's worth a heart-click.

Nice bit of Jalopforensics there. I'm amused by the effort you put into that.

References I will get: Top Gear, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama... um, I think that's it. But really, what else do you need?
04/14/09
Hey, at least you got South Park on me, but I'm pretty bad about that--I bought this shirt because I have had many conversations that go just like it:
