    I was going over some old family photos from the 1930s, 40s and 50s over the Easter weekend with my mother. She was getting annoyed because I cared more about the cars than the 3rd cousins or whatever in the photos. I found a great photo of my grandfater in a 1930s sedan-delivery of some sort (not a Ford)when he worked for Palmolive as a salesman. There was also a great photo of a 1940 Mercury and a Kaiser Manhattan.

    Look closely at the picture in the sixth row with the two-story white frame building. You'll see two stretched cars - a '55 Pontiac wagon and a mid-'50s Cadillac. They look like ambulances but I don't see any lights, sirens, or markings on the cars. I know that some upscale resorts used stretched cars for schlepping guests around - maybe this is such a place? Another clue is the "Camp ..." sign in front of the building. Also note those two spiffy '55 Chrysler sedans.


    I particularly like the picture of mini-skirted Suzy Creamcheese standing in front of the yellow '69 Camaro SS. She doesn't really seem like the type who drives an SS with fat blackwalls and plain hubcaps - maybe the car belongs to her JC-Penney-shirted main squeeze (is he taking the picture?). Makes you wonder what her life has been like in the 40 or so years since.

    Like most of you, we remember falling in love with cars during our childhood while riding in the back of station wagons on vacations across the U.S.


    Unfortunately I grew up in the 80s. By the time I was old enough to go on road trips I was riding in the back of mid 80s Monte Carlos with V8s and 25hp. By the early 90s I was riding in the back of a Ford Taurus that broke down on every trip we went on (foreshadowing my hatred of domestic cars).
    Great pictures, I just wish it rattled the same memories that it does for you.

    @Gutpunch McRodbender, a strolling player's understudy: You will soon come to learn that I know very few tv shows and movies, and I tend to miss references because of that. :/ In real life, my friends have great fun with that and will occasionally make up quotes to sound like they came from a show so I will waste my time fruitlessly searching for them.


    References I will get: Top Gear, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama... um, I think that's it. But really, what else do you need?

    @Gutpunch McRodbender, a strolling player's understudy: I didn't grow up watching tv. I went outside and climbed trees and played with sticks and rocks, until I grew up and met boys and realized they had much more interesting toys to play with.
