    Damn. I wish I had so much money that I could smash up a Bugatti and just shrug. I saw one on display in Berlin last month. It was behind a glass wall. No shit. There was even somebody guarding it. You weren't going to get to so much as breathe on this thing.

    One. Million. Euros. For a car. Damn.

    @klossfam: Yes, every time I've accidentally dropped my Veyron into a large body of water the FIRST thing I do is turn the engine off. It's just common sense. #bugattiveyron

    2 thoughts come to mind:

    1. Why isn't the car in neutral when they are pulling it backwards (rear wheels are clearly locked).

    I know the tow truck driver needs to tie onto the rear wheel initially, but wouldn't you want to move the tie-on point once you got it out of the water? Can't be doing the transmission any favors to drag it backwards several hundred feet.

    2. "The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone..."

    @B3ND3R: I was thinking about the non-spinning wheels, and this transmission is a cousin to VW's DSG manu-matic. The water probably destroyed any way of actually putting the thing in neutral. #bugattiveyron

    @skaven: I wondered about the DSG, but it seems to be like there would be/should be some sort "defeat" me so that the car can go into neutral.

    Even crapbox economy cars have a neutral lockout for just such a purpose. This car *is* $1.6M+...

    Ah well. Never been a huge fan of the Veyron, anyways. At least, that's what I tell myself since is not likely I'll ever have a dog in that type of hunt. :-D #bugattiveyron

    So a rich guy, with a few mil to waste on a car, was looking for a new multimillion house in a hurricane flood plain, which the taxpayers will probably pay to rebuild after the next big one. For some reason I have no sympathy for the guy. #bugattiveyron
