Not content to let the
Venza AS V do the talking, we've got another
SEMA-bound modified not-Camry-wagon in the Toyota Venza SportLux by Street Image. The car picks up where the AS V left off, hitting all the "factory tuned" street performance styling cues like giant wheels, two-tone paint, a body kit including a hood scoop, a suede interior with accompanying accent lighting and enough audio equipment to run a small concert hall. Thankfully, it's not just all show and no go, featuring a TRD supercharger under the hood, a coil-over suspension and big brakes. Wonder how many more Venzas they're planning to bring? Complete details below.

At the nearly-here
SEMA show this year, the number one super-best automaker from the land of the rising sun will be showing the
Toyota Venza AS V by Five Axis as part of
a larger strategy to convince us the car isn't a funny-looking Camry wagon. The Venza AS V is one of those active lifestyle concepts with extreme sports equipment carriers, big extreme tires and wheels, an extreme body kit and extreme brakes to bring it to an extremely short stop. Reminds us of a Ford Edge Sport on the West Coast Customs diet. Details and spin below the fold.

We're not going to pretend to be excited about the new
Toyota Venza crossover, but Toyota's trying to get someone under 40 interested by bringing a pair of restyled Venzas to the
SEMA show in Vegas later this month. Tuners
Five Axis and Street Image have been tapped to make the mods, and it's interesting to see the different approaches the two companies are taking in their design renders.

2009 toyota venza
Autofiends stumbled upon this
2009 Toyota Venza crossover cruising for hookers testing in West Hollywood. Yep, it's still ugly and worthless, but you know Toyota is gonna sell boatloads of them, so we suppose they do have a legitimate reason for testing it. Why couldn't they have just made a normal Camry wagon like they used to? Enough with the crossovers. [

2009 toyota venza
We heard last night Toyota began the opening salvo of the marketing campaign on the all new
Camry wagon 2009 Toyota Venza with an elaborate flash-based website. The first phrase that pops up? "We gave it an extra wide stance." Hmm, wethinks perhaps given the mass media's reporting of certain
alleged attempted Congressional dalliances in recent months, usage of that particular phrase strikes us as potentially ill-advised. Hilariously ill-advised, yes. But ill-advised nonetheless. Not that we're saying there's anything wrong with that. [

We all knew it from the moment the
2009 Toyota Venza made its beige debut on stage, the moniker of "crossover sedan" was marketing doublespeak. Reader
Clark got a bit worked up over some of the marketeers abusing the nonsensical term in
this MSNBC press release copy/paste story. Look we all
know it's a station wagon, Toyota knows it's a station wagon, buyers will all know it's a station wagon, and yet, Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter presses on.

Update: We've got the live reveal video posted HEREToyota told us about the
2009 Toyota Venza Crossover Sedan last year, but it's been bone-dry for teaser shots. But the seal is now broken! Here are the first live photos of the sorta sporty, sorta utilitarian, sorta... vehicle has an intriguing squashed-Ford Edge-meets-Toyota Camry look to it. This is all we've got at the moment but
give us a second and we'll be adding we've added live galleries and whatever press information we can get our grubby little hands on.

detroit auto show
Toyota announced today that they will be debuting a new crossover sedan at the Detroit Auto Show. We guess they're hoping to expand their narrow offerings and fill that huge hole between the RAV-4, Matrix and Highlander. The new vehicle will be "a unique blend of sedan and sport utility vehicle." Unique? The new Toyota will offer seating for five, a car-like ride and will have some sort of functional utility (err... AWD?). The 2009 Toyota Venza will be built in the Georgetown, Kentucky plant, which currently produces the Camry, Avalon and Solara. We have no spy photos or teases for you, though we'll throw out the
FT SX concept from the 2005 Detroit Auto Show as a possible spiritual heir and maybe a replacement for the Highlander. Press release below the jump.
