Toyota To Reveal New Avensis, Production iQ And AWD Urban Cruiser At Paris Motor Show

Toyota's just dropped what we should expect to see from them at next month's 2008 Paris Motor Show. We're told the super number one best awesome automaker from the land of the rising sun plans to reveal the new third-generation of the Toyota Avensis (the car's platform is the same as that of the Scion tC), the production version of the iQ concept first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year and lastly, the AWD Toyota Urban Cruiser. Three world premieres for Toyota in Paris

No fewer than three new Toyota models will make their world premiere at this year’s Paris Motor Show.

Firstly, Toyota will unveil the third generation Avensis, its European flagship model. The all-new Avensis will project an athletic and sleek design, giving a strong and dynamic character to the car. Featuring more powerful and cleaner engines that emit less C02, improved quality and enhanced equipment levels, the all-new Avensis is set to push the boundaries of the D-segment in Europe.

Also on stage for the first time is the eagerly-awaited iQ production model, that was showcased in design form earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Measuring less than 3 metres in length, the iQ is not just the world’s smallest premium 4-seater ever built, it is also a serious driving machine with CO2 emissions levels starting at a mere 99 g/km. Important for a car of this size, the iQ will offer 360° protection to all occupants with high levels of active and passive safety, including the world’s first rear window curtain shield airbags.

Another show highlight will be the 1.4-litre D-4D diesel All Wheel Drive (AWD) Urban Cruiser – Toyota’s new urban all-roader. With its unique rugged exterior design, high level of safety equipment and CO2 emissions level of only 133 g/km for the AWD version, the Urban Cruiser is set to become a powerful challenger in the urban all-roader market for tomorrow’s low carbon society.

More importantly, these three world premieres mark just the beginning of a whole raft of new Toyota models and innovative technologies on the horizon.

The Toyota stand is located in Hall 4 of the Paris Motor Show exhibition centre. The Toyota press conference will take place on Thursday, 2 October at 14h30.

2009 Toyota Urban Cruiser, Looks Even More Like Scion xD Up-Close

If you want to see the new 2009 Toyota Urban Cruiser in person you can either hop on a plane next month and head to the Geneva Motor Show — or you can just take a look at these spy photos of the new 'yota driving about sans camouflage on the snowy Swedish roads. Just like the press shot of the new Urban small-uv we've already seen from Toyota, these clear-as-day photos show us the Urban Cruiser will basically be a re-designed US-Spec Scion xD. The changes appear to be a big-time front fascia revision, including the addition of a new grille shape, a new front bumper, new fog lamps, and a revamped lower intake design. What carries over? We just snapped some fresh pix of the Geneva-bound Toyota Urban Cruiser, caught undisguise on the slick roads of Northern Sweden. Toyota has released one front-end image of the new Urban Cruiser, but we can now show you a full 360-degree view of the car in its showroom trim.
The Urban Cruiser represents the start of the Scionization of Toyota's
European small car lineup, as the car in these spy shots shows a
mildly-revised Scion xD. The face of the European Urban Cruiser gets
a thorough front fascia revision, adding a new grille shape, new
front bumper, new fog lamps, and a revamped lower intake design. The
only front-end carryover from our U.S.-spec Scion xD are the
headlights. A new, chunkier rear bumper design is also part of the
Urban Cruiser's revised look.

Toyota executives are calling the Urban Cruiser an "environmentally
responsible SUV", but the SUV claim seems a little shaky.
Environmentally responsible, we have no issue with that. Whatever the
Urban Cruisers accurate description may be, it is destined to go on
sale in Europe later this Spring.

Toyota Urban Cruiser To Land At Geneva

Possibly because people who drive Land Cruisers tend to drive in urban areas, Toyota has decided to bring the production version of their Urban Cruiser concept to Europe. Though this new ride has the dimensions of an SUV, it's practically a compact car. The good news is this new utility vehicle will have an advantage in mileage and emissions over true SUVs. No word on whether or not this will come to the US, but it's almost exactly the same thing as a Scion xD. Press release below the jump.

Toyota to present two new additions to its small car line-up at Geneva Motor Show
Toyota also uses the Geneva Motor Show to present a new extension of its sports utility vehicle line-up into the small car segment: Toyota Urban Cruiser.

This new Toyota is an environmentally responsible small SUV aimed at the urban all-roader market. It provides an answer to consumer desires for SUVs but with low fuel consumption and low emissions.

In addition, Toyota will also show its latest advances in urban environmental transport solutions, a Plug-in Hybrid prototype as well as two concept cars: the Toyota 1/X Plug-in Hybrid concept in combination with Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) technology, and the i-Real personal mobility concept.
