The Spiral Highway in eastern Washington easily beats this highway. 90+ turns in a 10 mile stretch, ascending over 2,000 feet at the same time. Plus the view at the top is amazing, you can see forever.
The Dragon, Skyline Dr and so many others trump that sandbox soundly.
In all fairness, pricks like us are just jealous that pricks like Tiff get sent all over the world instead of us. Hell, for a couple of bucks, a plane ticket, a Bimmer full of gas and a hotel, I'll douche it up on camera in the name of whatever. Don't tell me you all wouldn't do the same.
No way is that the world's greatest driving road - its far too wide and devoid of scenery for that. How about the Tail of the Dragon in eastern TN/western NC? Over 300 corners in 11 miles through gorgeous forests and up and down mountains. Now that's a great driving road.
@saj1: yes, definitely cops everywhere. I did it last summer in a rental Mustang coupe, which was fun but man, you've got to be hammering it hard to even go over the speed limit; its one of the few roads that is a blast at the speed limit.
In any variant of Se7en, early in the AM, the Dragon is pure automotive crack. I think because of the power-to-weight and nature of the road, a Se7en might be the fastest possible weapon of choice.
I happen to think Tiff is great, like Clarkson and the Stig rolled into one. But he's wrong. We all know the world's greatest 11 miles is: Deal's Gap at the TN/NC border.
Jonny wrote it. All I did was help organize the event and invite him. Seriously, the early AM drives we took were epic...fog lifting, damp roadway, no traffic. Shit-eating grins all around.
I kick myself for not videotaping our non-parade (a parade needs a permit)...over 40 Se7ens nose to tail from Tapoco to near Tabcat.
Nice. My wife and I were just talking about exotic places we would like to go. Might have to add Abu Dhabi to the list.
This does remind me of when my dad learnt me how to drive a manual trans. He took me up Old Baldy Road, which is known for its steep grade and switchbacks. I learned how to start on a hill, upshift/downshift, and hoonage all in that one afternoon. It was perfect.
@Prasan Naik: You haven't driven in Malibu Canyon then. I've driven the Amalfi Coast in Italy, Malibu Canyon in California, as well as the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut (sarcasm, and yes, I must place this disclaimer in here because there are way too many idiots on here now), three of the greatest driving roads and by far Cali has the best driving roads.
This ill-conceived road does not come close to being a great driving experience. It only has one of the factors, curves.

I've never driven that. Definitely on my list.

Thanks for the mug, BTW, one of my favorites. I'll assume business is good, since you've been gone so much.
