Allegedly, this one had a little help from Ukrainian class warfare. Gallery below.

According to English Russia, this symbol of ostentatious wealth - American cars are exponentially more expensive there thanks to taxes and import costs - was set on fire by Ukrainians unimpressed with the Vette's giant-slaying performance. [via English Russia]

<![CDATA[Ukrainian Creates Modern-Retro Hybrid Woodmobile]]> When you're in the Ukraine you've got to make your own fun, which is we guess how Vasily Lazarenko ended up with this 1981 Opel-based wooden monstrosity. Half is a decently attractive homage to the curvaceous beauties of the late 1930s, while the other half is a more modern automobile with a profile only Viktor Yushchenko's mother could love.

One of the photos shows him con bella, so maybe this is the epitome of style over there. [News.com h/t Richard T. photo Itar-Tass/Vasily Kiyashko]

<![CDATA[ZAZtastic! The Incredible Tavria!]]>

When Yevgeniy ran out of fuel in his Tavria, he stopped to grab a smoke and be alone with his thoughts. Could this proof that cigarettes are better than Mentos when it comes to inspiring bouts of improbable ideas? Was the Tavria truly this amazing? Or does Yevgeniy's lighter contain some sort of super-fuel? ZAZ for one! ZAZ for all!

<![CDATA[It's Got ZAZ! Zaporozhets!]]>

What a wonderfully dippy little Soviet automobile! Built at the ZAZ plant in the Ukraine, the Zaporozhets featured an air-cooled, rear-mounted V4 powerplant ranging up to 1.2L and had a face only Boris Yeltsin could love. Production of the 968M model ended in 1994, and with that, the Ukrainians got with the program and built a water-cooled front-driver called the Tavria. Is the Zaporozhets a prime candidate for the 'Busafication Politburo? Duh, comrade!

<![CDATA[Ukrainian President Abolishes State Traffic Patrols, Says Corrupt Agency "Discredited" by Covert Use of Speed Cameras]]>

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko announced he would fire regional police chiefs and eliminate state traffic patrols — saying their clandestine use of speed cameras "discredited" them. The President said he insisted the traffic police — rated the most corrupt state agency in the country (they have ratings for that?) — stop "hiding in the bushes" with traffic cameras, but they continued to do so.
