If it comes out of VW's garage they'll absolutely tune it. Which is how we get this — the ABT Golf VI GTD; the diesel Golf for the whiny, privileged hipster kids.

The new ABT Golf VI GTD – a diesel with 190 HP

Some affectionately call it the "racing tractor", as it combines sporty dynamism with enormous torque of 390 Nm. Rudolf Diesel would have had fun with the 190 HP (140 kW) strong "off-spring" of his invention. He would certainly never have thought it possible that the diesel engine could reach 100 km/h in a 7.1 second sprint. A top speed of 230 km/h and plenty of steam in all seven gears – that is how ABT Sportsline defines the 2.0 TDI in the new Golf GTD. This is because after its treatment in the Allgaeu the abbreviation now stands for "Gewinner Tanken Diesel – Winners tank diesel". The Golf still retains, of course, its economical qualities, as the fuel consumption remains at the low level of the series diesel version.

It goes without saying that the world's largest tuner of vehicles from the Volkswagen group also offers the popular bodykit which is tailor-made for the Golf VI on the compact diesel. The extra portion of sportiness impresses immediately: the front spoiler, front grille, side sills, rear spoiler, rear apron set and the typical ABT 4-pipe rear muffler suit the powerful appearance of the ABT Golf VI GTD. As an addition to the aerodynamic elements, ABT also recommends the sporty AR and BR wheels in 18 and 19 inch, which are available in combination with high-performance tyres. In order to ensure that the ABT Golf GTD guarantees maximum driving enjoyment in traffic as well as optimum safety even in threshold areas, the Allgaeu company has the ABT suspension springs on offer. They lower the centre of gravity of the Golf, so that the car lies even better on the street and even seems more powerful when stationary.

Save money with fun and plenty of benefits: the ABT Golf VI GTD is a versatile vehicle which knows how to impress in everyday life with superior reserves of power and low consumption. The fast car is therefore a "GreaT Diesel"

<![CDATA[Lingenfelter Turns Mullet-Mobile Into Screamin' Chicken]]> Sadly, the arrowhead-branded Pontiac Trans Am dead with the arrowheaded brand. But, the new Chevy Camaro brings new opportunity for the aftermarket to revive the screamin' chicken. Here's the first — the Lingenfelter 455 T/A — heading to tomorrow's SEMA.

CarandDriver has the full scoop and a whole messload of photos above and beyond these couple live shots here. We'll get a more detailed look ourselves when we head to SEMA tomorrow.:

Given the company's penchant for pumping up horsepower, of course Lingenfelter would rework the engine, too. Under the striped hood-there's no huge screaming chicken as of now-sits an aluminum 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V-8 block with a lofty 11.5:1 compression ratio, ported-and-polished Lingenfelter heads from the Corvette Z06's LS7, a forged crankshaft, and high-flow intake. The custom stainless-steel exhaust comes courtesy of Corsa. Power output is quoted at 655 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque, up significantly from the 426 hp of a stock manual Camaro SS. Also present are a new twin-disc clutch and flywheel assembly and tougher rear half-shafts to withstand the extra grunt. Handling alterations are limited to the addition of Nitto tires.

<![CDATA[889speedshop Offering First Tuned Lexus LFA]]> The Lexus LFA debuted approximately 12 hours ago and already German tuner 889speedshop is offering renderings detailing their plans for the first tuned version of the new LFA.

889speedshop will be adding their well-known touch to the Lexus LFA 889, making the already exclusive supercar even more-so. With a planned production run of just five cars, the LFA 889 will include the addition of an even lighter carbon-fiber hood and fender skins with an additional duct just ahead of the door. The front fascia has been revised for a more aggressive appearance and higher flow ducting for the front brakes. Out back a carbon fiber splitter will be added and the variable spoiler will be replaced with a fixed carbon fiber unit. Wheels will be also be quite exotic, featuring hollow core spokes beneath the even blacker finish.

Tuning will be kept subtle, with a freer-flowing titanium exhaust system and intake and a light ECU reprogram good for a planned 20 HP bump. Most importantly is the cost, which is expected to add $65,000 to the LFA's $400,000 price tag.

If you believed any of this you're not gullible, you've just been conditioned to expect this kind of thing from shops that love putting out renders of cars before they get them.

However, if you get your hands on an LFA and have an extra $65,000 sitting around, our graphics team can probably make this happen in real life and not just in their awesome renders.

<![CDATA[Switzer GT-R Hits Record 191 MPH In Standing Mile]]> A Switzer Nissan GT-R made a 191 MPH "official" standing mile pass at the Milemarker-1, setting a speed record for an R35 for that distance. The same month, another Switzer GT-R achieved a record quarter-mile speed.

Having reviewed the vehicle, we're not surprised it was capable of such a run given the 700 HP it's making at all wheels. We're also not surprised one of the company's customers achieved a record for the quarter-mile with an R35 trap speed of 141 MPH in back-to-back runs. This is Godzilla on speed.

Switzer GTRs Blister Tracks Across the Globe

October has been a busy month for Switzer Performance. After kicking off a 1-2-3 finish at the Moscow Unlimited, the company's tuned GTR Nissans posted record-breaking results (for an R35) in standing mile and dragstrip events in Miami, Moscow, and the company's home state of Ohio.

First up was last weekend's Milemarker-1, a standing mile event in Miami that saw one customer's GTR reach an official 191 mph in the standing mile, despite the extreme humidity and sweltering track temperatures of the Florida Everglades – conditions not usually kind to turbocharged cars.

Next came word of a similarly spectacular quarter-mile pass from one of Switzer's Russian GTR customers – a 10.193 second pass at over 133 mph.

One-hundred and thirty-three miles per hour in a quarter mile, while fast, is still shy of the unofficial R35 trap speed record (10.48 @ 134.3 mph). With that trap speed in mind, another Switzer customer offered to take his car out to Ohio's Dragway 42 for on open test and tune … and recorded back-to-back passes in excess of 141 mph! (141.41 and 141.51, respectively)

Tym Switzer is, understandably, very excited about the car's performances, saying that "it's been an amazing couple of weekends here for us. We really just went to the mile event to see what the car would do, and were excited to break into the 190's in those conditions. The really exciting thing for us, I think, is that all of these numbers were generated by customer cars, with off-the-shelf kits, being driven by their owners. No ringer cars or ringer drivers – that 141 speed was even on all-season tires. I don't know if you can call any of these runs 'official' or 'records', but one this is for sure: these cars are rockets! It's been a great October for the shop and the R35 platform. I couldn't be happier or more proud of everyone's performance these couple of weeks."

Switzer's R35 GTR tuning packages are available now through Switzer Performance dealers. Contact Switzer for more.

<![CDATA[Lamborghini LP640 JB-R: Blood Diamond In The Rough?]]> JB Design has "upgraded" the Lamborghini LP640 with a mess of carbon fiber, a body kit, custom "Blood to Black Diamond" paint job, dark red ultrasuede interior and oh yes, a power upgrade to either 710 or 750 HP.

Frankly, we're already impressed with the base model Lamborghini LP640, so any tuner's got an uphill battle in our book to make it look better. Still, the full press release below if you're still interested:

Lamborghini LP 640 JB-R - by JB Car Design

JB Design presents the ultimate car among the coupés. The LP 640 JB-R is a sports car of breathtaking fascination, menacingly power and uncompromising luxury. The 12-cylinder engine performs now after power level I (28.000,00 Euro) 525 KW (710 hp). The Lamborghini comes in combination with a changed underbody (ground effect) to an unbelievable final velocity. Not until the sports car has reached 370 km/h the air drag decelerates it. Gears are changed using a F1 steering wheel rocker switch.

No question, with the upgraded LP 640 JB-R JB Car Design has raised the bar for competition in the section super sports cars again a lot: with his increased performance up to 710 respectively 750 hp and his VIP-finishing in "Blood to Black Diamond" he not just delivers again a clear growth in output but an individual visual appearance as well. The patent registered finish is only available through JB Car Design. It costs (ready to be sprayed on) 280,00 Euro per litre and is limited to 911 litre worldwide, whereby the exclusivity is guaranteed.

The sharpened version of the LP 640 JB-R is as close to racing as no other car with MOT approval. But luxury is also to be found, as for example in the interior. The whole interior was colour adjusted to the exterior by using high quality materials in combination with dark red Ultrasuede and black smooth leather in bi-colour as well as little extras made of carbon fibre. In addition very decent and in black: tinted windshield, back and side windows (2.370,00 Euro including the approval of the Technical control board).

After having made over the interior it is now turn of the wheelset. New three part 20" Schmidt Revolution aluminium rims with hardened outer rim made of stainless steel in combination with Michelin wide base tires size 265/30-20 and 335/30-20.

As impressive as the sprint on the long straight stretch might be, most fun with the LP 640 JB- R you have in the curves. This is the reason why JB Car Design has intensified the abrasion by using their own aerodynamic-package consisting of front- and rear spoiler, rear diffusor, air intake in the front, side coverings, side skirts, the front opening hood as well as the engine hood. They have newly adjusted the running gear and tuned the super athlete thus he practically sticks to the street.

The built in, premium flap controlled sport exhaust systems offers the best sound at the push of a button. With the provided remote control the customer can change the sound of the exhaust pipe while driving.

The demonstration car is available for a price of 355.000,00 Euro ( YOC 2008, 9.000 km). The original price incl. the costs of the conversion is 500.000,00 Euro!

<![CDATA[New Body Kit Makes Your New Prius Look Nothing Like A Prius]]> Did you buy a 2010 Toyota Prius and instantly realized it didn't look as much like a HSV GTS as you hoped? Japanese car tuner Tommy Kaira has the solution for you.

These are proposed tuning packages, though the quad exhaust is already available in Japan. The new trim will also include your choice of 18-inch wheels and, of course, a lowering kit. While being closer to the ground might actually reduce drag, we're not sure if the "aero" kits will actually be more aerodynamic than the stock setup.

<![CDATA[German Tuner Gives Godzilla Gorgeous Matte Black Finish, Upgrades]]> German tuning shop AVUS Performance have given the Nissan GT-R a newly-modified ECU and exhaust to give the GT-R a boost to 570 HP and an impressive 516 lb-ft of torque. Also, sweet-ass matte black paint. Full gallery below.

The GT-R's been given a power boost, but it's really the exterior enhancements that make the AVUS Performance GT-R pop.

AVUS PERFORMANCE-Nissan GTR – Batmobil Reloaded

The Nissan GT-R build as a sportscoupe and direct opponent of the Porsche Turbo was revealed at the Tokio Motor Show in 2007. As a direct successor of the Skyline GT-R R34 the bar has been laid high already. With only 480 examples for Europe the GT-R is one of those rare sports-cars.

For AVUS PERFORMANCE a Nissan GT-R Black Edition was the basis for a very ambitious project. Besides optical changes they also put the emphasis on more power. A new modified ECU and a special new exhaust pipe (2 cats and the middle silencer have been removed) help the GT-R up to an impressive 580bhp and 700 Nm of torque (stock 485bhp and 588Nm).

Visually you can only imagine the power the GT-R has. The matt black, the lowering via coilovers (stock adjustments for the dampers will be kept) and the black painted 20" wheels combined with wheel spacers sum up the package. Individually painted parts like the front bumper, the rear diffusor, air vents, tinted windows can be seen when taking a close look.

<![CDATA[Capristo Shows Us What 80 Stallions In One Place Looks Like]]> Ferrari exhaust tuner Capristo invited as many German Ferrari owners they could find (one or two even fitted with Capristo-built aftermarket exhausts) last Saturday to Sundern, Germany. Over 80 prancing stallions from Maranello responded to the call. Gallery below.

See if you can play spot the Fiat in the gallery above.

Capristo Exhaust Systems GmbH - Capristo Day 2009

More then 80 Ferrari-driver from all over Germany arrived on Saturday 12 September in Sundern to rev up their engines. But not only bolides from Maranello came to meet in Sundern a few Lamborghini and Maserati were seen as well. The invitation came from Antonio Capristo, owner of the worldwide known company Capristo Exhaust Systems GmbH, where customized exhaust systems for sports cars are produced.

For about 7 years Capristo Exhaust Systems GmbH produces superlative exhaust systems and muffler. Everything is developed in the in-house technology centre. The sport exhaust systems are produced under strict exhaust, quality and safety regulations and are made of the finest high-grade steel (heat-proof - high-grade steel T309). They are also known for their fitting accuracy, sound and the excellent visual appearance. This do the Ferrari driver know very well! A remote control also belongs to the formula for success of Antonio Capristo. After having programmed the exhaust system, the remote control operates and changes the sound of it while driving.

Already around lunchtime the "Ferraristi" met on the premises of Capristo in der Kalmecke 5 in 59846 Sundern, Germany. But also a lot of people came to see the motorcade from Capristo Exhaust Systems GmbH through the city of Sundern.

At first the sports cars gathered at the town hall, where the mayor Friedhelm Wolf and pastor Michael Schmitt greeted the guests in front of the town hall. All sports car fans had the chance to peer the noble sports cars. Almost all models Ferrari ever built were there to be admired. After that they went towards Schirigswalder Platz respectively to Absolu Concept, a noble furniture store, where the "Ferraristi" received little refreshments.

In the late afternoon they went towards Langenscheid. There was a boats trip on the Sorpesee on the programme. At 9 p.m. a show with Italian music and dancer was presented on the Seebühne. The dancer arrived specially from Italy for this event. As good-bye there were fantastic fireworks above the Sorpesee.

<![CDATA[AC Schnitzer Tunes BMW Z4 For Speed-Obsessed Hairdressers]]> AC Schnitzer has plied its tuning skills on the latest iteration of the BMW Z4 and produced a car with more aggressive styling and a most welcomed 54 more horses. It'll look great sitting outside the spa.

AC Schnitzer's been somewhat tasteful with the Z4. The upgraded styling includes the addition of de rigeur fender vents — because what car doesn't need those these days — as well as a revised chin spoiler, trunk lid and exhaust tips. Add to that the bigger wheels and, most importantly, upgrades to the 3.5i twin turbo straight six. Those engine enhancements take the now-Schnitzer-ized Z4 from 306 HP to 360 HP. Not too bad.

Striking Entrance
The BMW Z4 by AC Schnitzer is ready for its world first

Ready for its world premiere: the extensive product range for the BMW Z4 by AC Schnitzer. The Aachen-based tuning specialist has further optimised the brand-new classic from BMW, which has already received extensive accolades from the trade press.

The BMW Z4 as standard is far from under-powered. But as is well known, enthusiastic drivers can never have enough power. Sufficient reason then for AC Schnitzer to upgrade the Z4 3.5i Turbo to 286 km/h. With a power of 360 HP and an unladen weight of 1485 kg, the open-top roadster from BMW accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Even the most demanding driver will be delighted with this performance.

The driving experience is enhanced acoustically and visually by the stainless steel sports rear silencer and the chromed Racing tailpipe trims.

Equally sporting is the AC Schnitzer suspension variant in the Z4. Thanks to a new spring kit, the transverse acceleration appears to bypass the conventional laws of nature.

This impression is certainly partly supported by the aerodynamic components made of PU-Rim, a high quality flexible plastic. The aerodynamic pack for the new BMW Z4 consists of a chrome front grille and front spoiler, where both components combine to give a more muscular look to the long bonnet lines.
New sports fenders, consisting of wheel arches with integral air outlets for improved cooling of the front brakes and chromed deflectors, optimise the side lines of the roadster.
Finally, the two-piece rear spoiler gives the rear of the BMW Z4 by AC Schnitzer an impressive look; because of the performance of the car, this is probably the aspect which will be seen most by other drivers!

In the inside, both driver and passenger enjoy an impressive interior. The aluminium cover for the i-Drive System Controller, the aluminium foot rests and pedal set, are just a few of the ergonomically perfect controls which give the vehicle elegance and enhance the sporting ambience.

Standing on AC Schnitzer Type IV in 18" or Type VI wheels in 18, 19 or 20 inch, the BMW Z4 takes to the stage for its world premiere. A striking entrance from the Aachen specialist, which will certainly not be forgotten in a hurry.

<![CDATA[Now Introducing The New Ferrari... Fiat 500]]> The 695 Tributo Ferrari is being offered in limited numbers as a Ferrari-inspired version of the Fiat 500. So is it either a dreadful dilution of the brand or the coolest Fiat ever? It may be both.

The 695 Tributo is technically from Fiat's performance division, Abarth, who partnered with Ferrari for this unique hatch. Beneath the Scuderia Red paint is a turbocharged version of the 1.4-liter gasser upped to 180 HP and connected to a six-speed gearbox with paddle-shifters. Lurking behind the special 17-inch alloys are bright red Brembo brakes.

This may be the best Fiat 500 out there, but the look on the booth professional's face says it all: "This is a Ferrari?"

Official Press Release

"The Abarth 695 "Tributo Ferrari" makes its world debut at Frankfurt. This new performance version of the Abarth 500 confirms the link between Abarth and Ferrari based on shared values that include a passion for performance, a racing soul, attention to detail and Italian style.
Abarth and Ferrari are two great names that have contributed, with conviction and dedication, to the legend of Italian racing that is known around the world. The legendary men behind both marques followed very similar careers: first drivers, then tuners and finally heads of companies that command genuine respect in the world of motor racing. These extraordinary men were associated in the past: in 1953, for example, a unique Ferrari-Abarth was born, the Ferrari 166/250 MM Abarth. The car raced in various international trophies including the legendary Mille Miglia. The tie between the two companies has been reinforced above all by the exhaust systems designed by Abarth specifically for the cars built at Maranello: numerous exhaust systems have been made for various Ferrari models, some of which have won World Championship titles.
The two brands have recently renewed their collaboration. The first result of this was the supply of a limited and numbered series of Abarth 500's to Ferrari's European dealers in recent months for use as "courtesy cars".
Now, attention turns to the new Abarth 695 "Tributo Ferrari", an exclusive vehicle that not only enables Abarth to extend its range by entering into the luxury sports car market, but also offers Ferrari customers a small but exciting small car for all their mobility needs, including practical urban mobility.
The new Abarth 695 "Tributo Ferrari" is distinguished by a number of stylistic changes, but more importantly by substantial modifications developed by Abarth and Ferrari engineers. The engine, for a start, is a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v, tuned to develop over 180 HP. This is combined with an MTA (Manual Transmission Automated) electromechanical gearbox with race-inspired paddle gearshift that makes full use of the engine's performance by reducing gearshift times.
To improve acceleration, the car is fitted with performance tyres on 17" alloy wheels featuring a design inspired by Ferrari wheels. The suspension and braking systems have also been strengthened to cope with the extra power: 284 mm multi-section discs with fixed four-piston calipers, both by Brembo, and special shock absorbers let you enjoy performance in total safety.
And of course there is a "Record Monza" variable back-pressure "dual mode" exhaust, designed to improve engine performance and deliver an inspiring sound over 3,000 rpm.
On the outside, the car is finished in Scuderia Red, with carbon fibre door mirrors and with details like the wheels and rear air intakes in Racing Grey. This new Abarth is equipped with Xenon headlights with dipped and main beam functions for improved light emission and excellent efficiency under all weather conditions. Made by Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting, these elements deliver three times the light intensity and duration of standard halogen lamp headlights.
The interiors are also personalised and demonstrate the attention to detail and the sporting style that are common to both brands. "Abarth Corsa by Sabelt" seats are fitted and finished in black leather with a shell and seat base in carbon fibre. These seats offer a perfect blend of racing characteristics – light weight (10 kg less than the standard seat) and the ability hold the body steady against lateral and longitudinal forces, thanks to body support elements filled with crush-resistant foam – with the ergonomics and comfort of road seats.
The black leather steering wheel is characterised by red leather inserts and a tricolour hub on which the MTA gearshift paddles are mounted, while the instrument panel is specially made by Jaeger, and inspired by typical Ferrari instrumentation. Attention to detail has gone into the floor too: the foot wells are covered entirely in non-slip aluminium and the racing pedals are personalised with the Scorpion logo. The interior is embellished with other details too, like special kick plates and a plate bearing the vehicle series number."

<![CDATA[How To Make Sleazy Car Shows Look Fabulous]]> Video maestro György Szeljakno stranger to Jalopnik—has finished his latest car piece, which features a boat load of scantily clad women and tuned automobiles. Click to watch (potentially NSFW).

György’s cars-and-babes exposé was shot at the Budapest Tuningshow, Hungary’s answer to SEMA.

It stars The Fuel Girls, by their own definition a “kick-ass, ultra-sexy, fire breathing rock and roll, dance and stunt show” from the UK. If you watch the video, you will see that the part about breathing fire is to be taken quite literally.

As you would expect from a car styling event held in the porn capital of the world, the video is somewhat heavy on skin, so please watch with care if you happen to be at a typical American office.

Machine shops and European offices are exempt from such warnings.

And if you can’t get enough, there’s always the behind-the-scenes gallery:

<![CDATA[Geiger GTS: A Corvette ZR1 With 710 HP!?]]> If there's one thing the Corvette ZR1 doesn't need, it's more power. The Corvette ZR1 Geiger GTS is a perfect example of why. The 72 additional HP actually makes it .2 seconds slower to 62 MPH.

Geiger's keeping mum on exactly how it extracts the extra power and torque (710 HP and 677 Lb-Ft in all), but we bet it involves a really, really, really loud exhaust. The stock ZR1 is capable of reaching 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds, as Ben found out last month. All this additional oomph must overwhelm the rear tires, lengthening that time or at least the 0-to-62 MPH time (damn Euros) to a positively tardy 3.6 seconds. Yawn.

Of course, ze German tuning firm doesn't stop there, adding an even wilder bodykit to the already over-the-top Chevy flagship.

The press release follows:

Geiger GTS: Extreme sportsman with retro elements

The announcement was clear: "It is very important for Corvette, to offer the strongest, most high performance and best sports car in terms of handling in the USA." With these words the former chairman of General Motors Rick Wagoner set his engineers a clear goal around two years ago, which also included trumping the Dodge Viper SRT10, which was shown at the Detroit Car Show shortly before, in all regards.
The technicians got to work and so the next year the persons responsible were able to proudly unveil the quickest and highest performance series vehicle ever produced by General Motors: the Corvette ZR1.

Under the sheer endlessly long bonnet of the ZR1 lurks a newly developed LS96.2 litre small block V8 with compressor supercharging. Pressurised by the Eaton R2300 compressor with up to 0.72 bar, this primitive engine gets up to 647 HP and a maximum torque of 823Nm.
Further technical highlights of the extreme Corvette are its high performance breaking system with their 394 and 381 mm diameter carbon ceramic discs, as well as the electronically controlled suspension "Magnetic Selective Ride Control" with track level suspension mounting. Bonnet, roof, sill, rear wing and front spoiler are made of super light, but at the same time high strength carbon.

GeigerCars.de from Munich, which has specialised in the import and refinement of US cars for years, has not only brought this extreme sportsman from the United States to Germany, it has also optionally subjected it to diverse tuning measures at the same time – the first example of the Corvette ZR1 "Geiger GTS" will be presented to the world public at the 63rd International Automobile Exhibition at Frankfurt am Main from 17th to 27th September.

The datasheet for the Corvette ZR1 "Geiger GTS" shows 710 HP maximum performance with 6,600 rotations per minute and the car produces gigantic 918 Nm on the crankshaft at only 4,200 revs. Set up in this way the ZR1 storms up to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, and at the same time nails the back of the occupants' head to the head rest of the Geiger carbon sport seats. The propulsion only ends at a speed of 342 kilometres per hour.

At these values the hardest work is done by the 10 x 19 and 12 x 20 inch high performance tyres mounted on light metal rims with the dimensions 285/30ZR19 at the front and 345/25ZR20 at the rear tyres.

Of course GeigerCars extensively modified the look of the Corvette, lending it a styling, which is reminiscent of the large Gran Turismos of the 60's and 70's. The front and back were extensively modified; a wide air vent dominates the nose, while a massive diffuser attracts attention at the back. Both the fog and rear lights are based on modern LED semi conductive technology. The three layer mother of pearl varnish of the Corvette ZRI "Geiger GTS" with changing colour play is also a real eye catcher.

<![CDATA[Brabus SV12 R: 750 HP Mercedes Super-Class]]> Brabus SV12 R drops a tuned twelve-cylinder engine producing 750 HP and an astonishing 995 lb-ft of torque between the rails of the 2010 Mercedes S-Class. That'll take the luxury barge from 0-to-epic in just under four seconds.

The exterior and interior get the full treatment from Brabus. Starting with the exterior, the enhancements are all about the aerodynamics. The aerodynamic-enhancement components for the facelift include large centrally located air duct to optimize the cooling of engine and front brakes. Additionally, an air vent made from clear-coated carbon and a horizontal brace that spans the outlet with embossed BRABUS signet and integrated LED lights and rocker panels that feature integrated entrance lights for added utility help to complete the Darth Vader-like look of the Brabus package.

But wait, there's more aerodynamic-enhancements like a BRABUS rear spoiler lip and a new rear apron, a centrally located reflector, custom cutouts for the BRABUS quad sport exhaust system and integrated LED lights which illuminate the ground behind the vehicle.

Full press release with all the salient details on the super-sprinting sedan from Brabus:

BRABUS SV12 R is the latest state-of-the-art creation by the premium Mercedes-Benz tuner – BRABUS. The BRABUS SV12 R is a business car (office on wheels) that combines two of the most significant auto qualities in new dimension – Power and Luxury. With its BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 750 twelve-cylinder engine producing 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW and a peak torque of 1,350 Nm (995 lb-ft), the Mercedes S 600 facelift based BRABUS reaches a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph) electronically limited. The peak torque is electronically limited too – 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

extraordinary sprint numbers makes the BRABUS SV12 R not just the most powerful but also the fastest luxury sedan in the world. The 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint lasts only 4.0 seconds, and to 200 km/h (124 mph) just 11.9 seconds.

The mighty SV12 R luxury sedan power comes not only from the engine but also from the larger turbochargers, the more efficient intercooling system and the stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with four tailpipes and metal catalysts with low back pressure. The newly programmed engine electronics also ensures the flawless work of the all new components. All this power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission.

This enormous force of the BRABUS SV12 R places the highest demands on the car's aerodynamics. The aerodynamic-enhancement components for the facelift generation of the Mercedes S-Class were designed from scratch. The BRABUS designers went into the wind tunnel to develop a striking front apron whose sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. The large centrally located air duct optimizes the cooling of engine and front brakes. Integrated auxiliary headlights and LED daytime running lights further improve active safety. Custom-tailored front aluminum sport fenders replaces their production counterparts. The exclusive appearance is characterized by an air vent made from clear-coated carbon and a horizontal brace that spans the outlet with embossed BRABUS signet and integrated LED lights. For optimizing the side airflow of the vehicle, the BRABUS designers shaped a rocker panels that feature integrated entrance lights for added utility.

The aerodynamic-enhancement concept features more: a BRABUS rear spoiler lip and a new rear apron, a centrally located reflector, custom cutouts for the BRABUS quad sport exhaust system and integrated LED lights which illuminate the ground behind the vehicle.

The enormous performance of the BRABUS SV12 R is kept safely under control with custom-tailored solutions for tires, brakes and suspension. They include BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels with diameters ranging from 17 to 21 inches.

The largest version features size 9Jx21 wheels on the front axle and size 10.5Jx21 in back. Customers can choose from three different designs: Three-piece forged and high-gloss polished BRABUS Monoblock VI wheels with six double spokes, Monoblock E multi-spoke wheels and the especially exclusive Monoblock F PLATINUM EDITION forged wheels with cross-spoke design. All versions are fitted with Pirelli or YOKOHAMA tires in size 265/30 ZR 21 in front and in size 295/30 ZR 21 on the rear axle.

For all S 350, S 500 and S 350 CDI models with short wheelbase BRABUS also certified Monoblock VI, E, G, Q and S wheels in size 10Jx22 with high-performance tires in size 275/25 ZR 22 in front combined with size 295/25 ZR 22 tires on the rear axle. Thanks to a tire design specifically calibrated for luxury sedans and high-performance coupes the new BRABUS tire/wheel combination offers sporty and agile handling combined with excellent ride comfort.

The large wheels also create the necessary space for installing the BRABUS high-performance brake system with 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380 x 36-mm (15.0 x 1.42 inches) vented and cross-drilled discs in front, and 355 x 28-mm (14.0 x 1.1 inches) discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear axle.

The finest entertainment and communication technologies on board a luxury sedan capable of reaching 340 km/h (211 mph): BRABUS has developed a business concept for the Mercedes S-Class that combines exclusivity, state-of-the-art technology and meticulous craftsmanship at the highest level of perfection.

At the heart of the system is an ultra-slim 3-GHz notebook computer housed safely in a docking station inside an electrically deployed drawer in the trunk, underneath the rear shelf. The tablet PC notebook can be easily removed for use outside the vehicle.

The entire BRABUS business concept equipment is operated via a second COMAND controller conveniently placed in a special console integrated into the rear compartment. This ensures that the user of the PC system has no problems operating the system if and when he or she moves from the driver's seat to the power rear seats or vice versa. The console in the rear also houses a color printer.

A 15.2-inch 16:9 TFT screen serves as computer monitor. It is integrated into the supple leather of the headliner and deploys and retracts at the push of a button. The BRABUS computer is connected to the internet via UMTS. Two USB 2.0 ports integrated into the rear compartment allow connecting various peripherals such as a webcam for video conferencing or a digital camera. The printer is housed in a custom-developed console located between the rear seats.

To display the images from digital TV, DVD, Blu-Ray disc or game console the BRABUS interior specialists have developed an interface that transmits the signals to the extendable screen in the roof and to the standard screens in the back of the front headrests. Also available for the S-Class are special BRABUS seat consoles with integrated tables that deploy at the push of a button. The table tops are bordered by elegant aluminum frames and are available in the same wood grains as the factory trim options of the S-Class or in custom BRABUS veneers or even covered with leather. The angle of the table top is infinitely adjustable and the tables offer ample space for perusing documents or for the wireless keyboard of the BRABUS computer system.

The computer's integrated MP3 player can store more than 5,000 songs. The sound is carried by Sennheiser Noise Gard headphones that filter out unwanted noises for unparalleled listening enjoyment.

Maximum individuality and comfort in the interior is another specialty of the BRABUS interior designers. That includes electric curtains that provide the rear passengers with privacy. But that's not all: The list of options ranges from scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo to ergonomically shaped sport steering wheels to stainless-steel pedals.

Especially exclusive is the newly created BRABUS Yachting precious-wood combination of maple and tropical Wenge wood, which lends the luxury sedan a maritime ambiance. In traditional craftsmanship hundreds of individual pieces are used to recreate every piece of wood trim in the S-Class in the style of a miniature ship veneer. The combination of maple and Wenge woods features traditional open pores but is sealed according to the latest automotive guidelines.

As a stylish and perfectly crafted complement the company upholstery shop created an elegant fully leather interior in a combination of light-beige and dark-brown leather that is especially soft, breathable and extremely durable.

<![CDATA[695 Tributo: Ferrari Builds A Fiat 500!]]> Ferrari and Fiat's performance division Abarth have partnered together for a surprise Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling — a limited edition Fiat 500 they'll call the 695 Tributo Ferrari. So, um, when did Ferrari become Fiat's new tuning shop?

The car aims to bring new meaning to the term hot hatch. For starters, the 695 will come in the traditional Ferrari color of Scuderia Red and performance gets boosted with a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol/gasoline engine dialed up to 180 HP mated to an F1-style 6-speed transmission with paddle-shift function. Suspension tuning will compliment the increase in power and a set of red Brembo brakes will sit behind the 17-inch alloy wheels made special for the occasion, referencing classic Ferrari design.

A bigger issue is what this means for the Ferrari brand to be putting their name on a Fiat 500. Is this a watering down of the Italian Stallion brand or is this, like a Ferrari-branded Segway, just a marketing gimmick. Or, worse yet, is this a marketing gimmick that'll unintentionally water down the brand? [AutoExpress via World Car Fans]

The Ferrari 599 GTB is the focus of the latest new product developments from NOVITEC ROSSO, the worldwide leader in customizing the great cars from Maranello. The new developments include a performance kit that increases power output of the V12 engine by 40 hp / 29.4 kW, a striking and aerodynamically efficient design program and numerous exclusive accessories.

In addition to the familiar twin compressor engines with up to 808 hp / 594 kW NOVITEC ROSSO now also offers classic engine tuning for the six-liter twelve-cylinder four-valve engine. The Performance Stage 3, starting at 10,490 Euros, increases power output from standard 620 hp / 456.3 kW to 660 hp / 485.7 kW without any alterations to the engine's inner workings.

The conversion consists of new engine electronics and a complete NOVITEC ROSSO stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system. The new engine management system comprises new mapping for ignition and injection as well as increase in maximum engine speed to 8,550 rpm.

The NOVITEC ROSSO sport exhaust system features four tailpipes with diameters of 90 millimeters and is available in two different versions. In addition to a conventional version there is also a system with controllable exhaust flap. Using the little ‘Manettino' switch on the steering wheel, the driver can change the exhaust note from sporty subdued to bona fide racing sound.

After the conversion throttle response of the V12 engine is even crisper with further improved driving performance. The higher redline speed increases top speed by five km/h to 335 km/h.
For even faster and more precise shifting of the six speeds of the 599 GTB's F1-Superfast transmission NOVITEC ROSSO offers longer carbon-fiber shift paddles.

Even better looks and better aerodynamic efficiency: These are the attributes of the NOVITEC ROSSO body components, which received their finishing touches in the wind tunnel. The front spoiler lip for the production bumper gives the 599 GTB an even more aggressive expression and reduces lift on the front axle. For a perfect aerodynamic balance the rear of the car is upgraded by NOVITEC ROSSO with a new rear wing and diffuser.

New rocker panels with large air dams give the coupe a more muscular stance.
All NOVITEC ROSSO aerodynamic components are also available in clear-coated carbon fiber.

Further innovative NOVITEC ROSSO exterior accessories are black taillights, side markers and auxiliary brake light as well as the new LED rear fog lights.

Three-piece NOVITEC ROSSO NF3 wheels are important components in the spectacular appearance of the customized 599 GTB. They are available in a number of different color combinations. The double-spoke wheels exceed the size of the production wheels by one inch on front and rear axle, and are fitted with Pirelli high-performance tires. The front axle features size 9Jx20 wheels with size 275/30 ZR 20 tires. On the rear axle size 12.5Jx21 wheels with tires in size 355/25 ZR 21 make full use of the available space under the wheel arches.

The NOVITEC ROSSO sport suspension allows both ride height and damper rates to be set according to each customer's individual preferences. But that's not all: By pushing a button in the cockpit the front of the car can be raised by 40 millimeters to safely navigate parking-garage ramps or speed bumps. Upon reaching a speed of 80 km/h the front of the car automatically reverts to its original position.

NOVITEC ROSSO offers a multitude of individual options for the interior of the two-seater sports car. The product lineup includes a leather/carbon-fiber sport steering wheel with flattened bottom for easier entering and exiting of the vehicle, aluminum foot pedals and foot rest. Additional customization requests can be fulfilled with custom-altered seats tailored to the individual owner and with leather and Alcantara interiors perfect down to the last detail.

<![CDATA[Switzer R850 Nissan GT-R: This Is Godzilla On Race Fuel]]> It's been less than four months since we put the Switzer P800 Nissan GT-R through its paces and already Switzer is testing a racing fuel-powered version, the 850 HP+ Switzer R850.

The "R" in R850, as you might guess, is for the "race fuel." We wonder if the "P" in P800 means "pump" or "plebeian." The 850 HP and 820 lb-ft numbers are the assumed amount at the crank given the dyno numbers, which show about 740 AWHP and 715 lb-ft. If you've got a GT-R and are itching to throw all warranty concerns to the wind, the package runs about $20,900 and includes the tunes for both pump and race gas, as well as a larger dual-core radiator, thermostat, and Switzer MONSTER intercoolers.

And if you can't handle the power, there's always this thing to save you.

<![CDATA[Saleen 435S Mustang Debuts With 435 HP, Without Steve]]> We're tired of keeping up with the drama between Steve Saleen and the company bearing his name, but this Saleen 435S Mustang is the first all-new offering from the Steve-less 'Stang customizer.

Much like the car's direct competitor, the Roush 427R, the Saleen 435S has supercharged the 4.6-liter V8 for 435 HP but bests it with 425 lb-ft of torque, 25 more pounds of twist. The car doesn't get much in the way of visual upgrades, but it does have new wheels, mesh covered fog lamps, the requisite "Saleen" badging and option chin and tail spoilers. No word on pricing, but we're betting it's right in the Roush's $43k ball park.

Saleen Performance Vehicles today unveiled its first 2010 product, the Saleen 435S, based on the new 2010 Ford Mustang. The introduction took place as part of the Special Vehicle Team Owners Association's annual "Mustang Week" event. The 435S is the first vehicle launched under Saleen's new ownership, following the purchase of Saleen Inc. earlier this year.

This car continues the Saleen tradition of offering limited-edition, high-performance vehicles for enthusiasts who are looking for an exhilarating driving experience, with refined drivability for real-world road conditions.

The 435S is designed to provide affordable, high-value performance.

"In these difficult economic times we wanted our first vehicle to deliver a lot for an affordable price," said Mike Shields, CEO of Saleen Performance Vehicles. "It was created much more for ‘go' than for show. We focused on power and handling, and it's a great platform to build on if a customer wants to take it farther later on."

Heart of the car's performance is its 4.6-liter, 3-valve SOHC V8 engine, complete with a Saleen Series VI twin-screw supercharger and two-stage intercooler. This engine produces a vigorous 435 horsepower and 425 lb.-ft. of torque. It's mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and has a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio with limited-slip differential.

The car rides 1.5 inches lower than a Mustang GT, thanks to its Saleen Racecraft performance suspension. The system is designed to reduce body roll, provide nimble, precise handling and improve traction, while retaining the compliant ride of a good daily driver. The suspension package includes springs, a stiffer front stabilizer bar, and nitrogen-pressurized shock absorbers tuned exclusively for the 435S.

The vented brake rotors, front and rear, are slotted and cross-drilled for improved feel and stopping performance. Larger, 14-inch slotted front rotors with 4-piston calipers are available as an option.

The 435S has the Saleen-signature long, low, sleek looks and aggressive stance that have distinguished the company's previous cars. Traditional Saleen styling cues include an understated trim panel between the taillights with "Saleen" in raised lettering, mesh covers over the fog lights in the grille, and the Saleen name and chevrons as graphic elements placed low on each side. An optional Aero Package includes a lightweight chin splitter and rear spoiler for improved aerodynamics.

Other exterior highlights include unique, 18-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels (19- and 20-inch wheels are available), and "435S" lettered on each side of the hood's power dome.

Inside, the modifications are designed to enhance the driving experience and to express the car's character. These include a new, short-throw shifter for quick, precise gear-changing performance, and new, driver-oriented gauges. These uniquely styled gauges retain Mustang's MyColor™ capabilities that allow the owner to select from more than 125 custom colors for the instrument cluster. The car's identity is highlighted by a Saleen logo embroidered on the headrests.

"All in all, we believe the 435S is the right car at the right time," said Shields. "It's a terrific performance value that we're proud to offer. And this is just the first of many great Saleen vehicles we'll be launching in the future."
