Friends, I ask you this: When that phone call comes in at 3am and your best friend has just murdered 60 homeless people and shoved their bodies into a gooseneck horse trailer, who do you want on the other end of the line--me or the Prius?

No doubt much harder to haul than a horseneck goose trailer (and undoubtedly much quieter)... I'm 'down' with that, fer sure...

To haul around a fifth-wheel trailer, this would be nice. To haul around a petite latté-sipping, cell-phone-squawking suburban dweller, not so much...

...And they'd pobably park it next to me at the market...

I never understood the fascination with 22.5 inch commercial wheels and tires, but maybe that's just me.

I think their target market will wonder why a 5-speed since all the big 3 offer 6-speed duallies.

This would put a serious dent in domestic dually sales.

    I'd buy one (if I wanted/needed a dually).

Um, you guys may not like it but the lack of a heavy duty diesel is a big part of why buyers in need of a heavy-duty tow rig are still leaning towards Ford and Chevy. My father-in-law needs 3500 series Chevy dualies for his insulation business to tow scissor lifts and whatnot and Toyota has yet to make something that meets the requirements.

@JaredZX3: i think that one problem is that one major market segment that could use these types of foreign made trucks are selling/delivering to customers who don't want to see anything other than a dodge, ford, or chevy/gmc pull up their 1/2 mi. + driveway...

my father deals with this (selling & servicing irrigation equipment to farms) on a seasonal (yearly type) basis...

otherwise... he'd have some nissan and toyota trucks pulling his trailors...

@elwood: Given the variation of production locations used by modern domestic and foreign automakers alike, the most accurate term would be "junk." Personally, though, I had a Toyota Hilux that went 339,000 miles, and my roommate had an Escort that sucked the fat bone.

i still seize to understand americans' fondness to pickup trucks, can someone PLEASE explain it to me ?! why would someone in a middle management position, who has no second job as a plumber, and basically never hauls offroad bikes, have a F350 !?

@c0de: I don't think it can be explained. The best I can do is that it's like a realtor with a Hummer or a dishwasher with a Harley. It's a fantasy of what they would be if they had the freedom to do what they wanted. It's role playing to some extent. Look at me, I'm a rugged cowboy (until I have to go do some guy's taxes).

The farthest most SUV's get off road is when somebody goes over a curb trying to make a corner.

Some people do have a legitimate need and it may or may not be obvious. My mom has a 30 acre ranch with livestock and 6 rental houses. You see a little gray haired old lady driving a giant truck, she sees how she's getting the Kubota to the one of her other properties.

@jduffy13: I think once in my life, I've seen a dually hauling a horse trailer. Once in a blue moon, they're towing a camper (seldom even a gooseneck- the one person I know with a fifth wheel camper has a Chevy that isn't a dually, crewcab or diesel!). Let's face it: these trucks are prosthetics.

@BЯдΖǐL-ЯЄРΘЯΤЄЯ - now also back on two-stroke: The Tomahawk would visually go pretty well with this truck, but since the Tomahawk is a Dodge, to pair it with a non-Dodge truck would be a tough sell.

NO matter how much torque this thing produces, it's not enough to pull the tastelessness off of most of the cars at SEMA.

Maybe you guys should take a really long cable tied to the bumper of this thing and string together your choice of the ten worst offenders of taste near it...
