The design is rather incoherent and overly done. I wish it was simpler. But I cannot argue with the lightweight and the drivetrain. Now, if any other carmakers are listening, this is what you should be striving for. #tokyomotorshow
"That banshee of a V10 under the hood should be good for engineering pr0n and produce somewhere around 500 HP, which, seems a bit weak for the expected $310,000 asking price."
Its suppose to be "over 500hp", probably closer to 550-600hp being that this is an ultra- high revving 4.8L V-10. Keep in mind, the car is suppose to be all-carbon fiber and weigh ~2,600lbs according to Edmunds.
Also the price is pulled out of your ass. Speculation was originally $200k, some websites quote $310k. It's all pulled out of people's ass, much like most of the posts on Jalopnik.
This does absolutely nothing for me. Honestly, neither Toyota or Lexus should be putting out a $310k supercar. They should be focusing on a new affordable sports car and sub $150k supercar. Even with their past successes in the sports car arena, they've been so vanilla lately that nothing they do really excites me... not even this.
@grzydj: It has been, we're somewhat surprised by the rumor as well. It's been an on-again, off-again program. if it comes to pass, the only reason i can see why they'd build it is to recover some of the huge costs involved in developing that V10, which will find a home nowhere else. ever.
@Ben Wojdyla: The other Lexus vaporware, the GS-F, was rumored to be V10 powered. It could be an application. I don't think they would develop an engine for one model only.
I haven't paid much attention to the LF-A, but for some reason I was assuming it was supposed to be the Lexus answer to the GT-R, a sub-$100k bang-for-buck supercar.

With that power/weight ratio, I can imagine this being stupid fun to drive. Like a 1st gen MR2 on steroids... #tokyomotorshow
