    I think the bigger shock would be learning that;

    Clarkson really isn't a pompous ass, and secretly craves eating Sonic and sightseeing in a PT Cruiser around downtown Dallas.

    Hammond is really the brains of the operation.

    and

    May is really Max Mosley is disguise.

    This is pure comedic irony. A Toyota passing itself off as a Ferrari? The most bland car company in the world now has people making body kits for one of their, admittedly, more exciting models to pass it off as a Ferrari? Would it be a Toyarrari?

    Gold. That's what this is. The irony is pure comedy.

    @engineerd confused n00b: I must ask where have you been the last 15 years? Ferrari kits for MR2's isn't exactly a new concept. The 355 kit was a big seller for depressed MR2 owners that felt insecure,it's always fun to point at them & laugh.

    @layabout now with V8 power: Here in the US all (98%+) of the mid-engined kit cars are made using Fieros. A nice used Fiero goes for $1,000-$3,000. A nice used 2nd gen MR2 goes for 2-5X that and most of those have been attacked by the ricers by now having had body kits and snorkel scoops added to them. Sometimes they will add Ferrari badges too without making any attempt to make it actually look like anything Italian. The main thing anyone bulding a kit car is concerned about is the cost, otherwise they would just go buy a nice used example of a 308 or Esprit for about the same money as your new fake 360/430.
