Just a thought; any bets on whether that's actually Daschle's car? SD license plate number AJA 853. Probably belonged to some grunt staffer who thought it was so cool to have his clunker in a campaign ad for the boss. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Ooh, that "burning oil" thing is going to have to change, Mr. Daschle. You don't want to piss off the environmentalist movement.
You think he still has it? Or did he upgrade to the next cheap rebadged Pontiac, a G5? Maybe that was a gift too, because there's no way in hell anybody's buying one of those.
@Mad_Science: Yes, but on your route to politics you would have lost all sense of taste. Instead of El caminos, you would adorn your driveway with Amphicars, Pintos and Gremlins.
That's weird, I was just telling some cohorts how I remember seeing an ad when I was a kid when Daschle was running for Senate where he talked about driving himself to work when everybody else drove or took limos. Heck, I even said I thought he drove a Nova. I think it's an Olds variant (??) but I was pretty close.
Guess he isn't the good old boy that he used to be. South Dakota rep-ra-zent.
You realize what's happening here? Any one of us who ever paid some kid to mow the lawn, or a college student to watch their kids, without reporting it will be rendered "unfit" for public office...
Honestly, at what point do we get a grip and worry about the bigger picture?
@Gearhead_42: I agree on the bigger picture thing. But at the same time, the bank where I work can take disciplinary action against me for overdrawing my personal checking account (same with my previous employer). It's just part of this new push for "holistic character standards" or whatever you'd like to call it. Sort of like how they check your credit when you apply for a job.
If FromaBuick6 has to watch one more Chevy commercial, he's going to punch Howie Long in the face was starred

I was just reading about it. And the government, which failed miserably to oversee where their $700 billion financial bailout money went, is going to lecture the auto industry. There's got to be a stronger word than ironic.
When will it stop? At least he had the decency to withdraw. Or maybe it was the embarassment.
Getting past the politics, I would love a limousine and a driver for my work commute. I'll take a Mercedes Pullman, or a chauffered Bentley. Hell, I'll take anything at this point.

Although, I will admit that I read both and got all the way to the end of the second one before it dawned on me. I was on my first cup of coffee...

You could get a pretty sweet car for that kind of cash. Or maybe a few cars. In fact, you could pick up a small fleet of El Caminos.

Seriously, you could do a lot worse.
The automotive world view of most elected officials consists of:
Taxis
Towncars
Hyrbids as a synonym for Good
Trucks/SUVs as a synonym for Evil
Regardless of politics, if I heard someone was driving an '85 4Runner or a GNX or something I'd totally vote for them.

Besides, our new treasury secretary did the same thing and got away with it.

You can not ask the foxes to protect the hens.
On a related note, there was a Duster in his commercial! woot!
