I think Jalopnik should approach a die cast manufacturer (maybe Jada?) and develop their own special line of Jalopnik die casts. Replicated DOTS, LeMons, English Russia, personal rides of Jalop Nation, and a limited edition "what Ray drove to his reunion" mystery cloaked in a sealed package.

I would buy every single one.

Goddamn, there is some crazy stuff out there if you search "tilt-shift": check out this adorable building on fire!

Also, someone decided to be a smartass and do their interpretation of "tilt, shift":

@Leeeeena the Jalopchick: In the name of science, I will now personally replicate this man's interpretation of "tilt, shift" in order to further my ability to explain exactly the differences between his "method" and the generally accepted goings-about.

@Strooooolling the Jalopplayer: If I had a GT3 RS and huge snowbanks, I would love to do it too. But seriously, it's gotta take some balls to get ass-end-outy in a rear-engined car.

...is that what stream-of-consciousness feels like?

Here is one that I did from a photo I took at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum:

It looks more toy-like in the larger version. The padding in the Arie Luyendyk car looks like molded plastic that a model maker forgot to paint.

I tried my hand at this, but my cheapo-lousy camera + horrible photo skills weren't conducive to the best result.

Plus I need to finish illegally torrenting Photoshop. . .

@Baron Schm Von Shamwoüzen memes ur memes: Looks pretty good, but if you want to go for the true tilt-shift effect, you have to blur the sides too so it's not an entire horizontal band of focused area. Try to pick one car or object and blur progressively more the further you get away from it. It also really enhances the effect to turn up the color saturation.

Hope you've finished getting Photoshop by now - this stuff is fun to mess with!
