970 lbs. yikes! Back in my college days we threw together a portly Formula SAE car that weighed in at 600, it had 4 wheels and, if not for that pesky restrictor, would've made well over 150hp. Marotti may be on to something, but I say back to the drawing board
I prefer my 12 year old VFR motors in 12 year old VFRs.
I once tried to breed a three-wheeler myself by combining a car and a motorcycle to see what offspring they'd produce. All I got was a dead motorcyclist.

The Ace is better looking than the Zero, but the reviews seemed to heavily favor the Zero, and with its lower price point, it might be the one to have.
The Ace gets points for sending power to the rear, but in a thusly configured trike, that means that only one wheel is getting power. Maybe front wheel drive is the way to go.
If you really want the open road joy of a V-twin and the wind in your face, buy a damn bike!. Seriously, I don't see the reason for these. It's like that Buick(right?) suv that had the removable roof panel so you could kinda use it like a pickup. Just buy a damn truck!
I'd seriously consider one of these if they were cheaper.
Why? If the car next to me changes lanes into me while I'm on a bike, I'm hamburger. While it's obviously not going to be fun in one of these, it's still worlds better.
Other benefits include being easier to carry passengers and/or stuff.
I tend not to think of it as a bike for sissies, but more like an even smaller option compared to a Miata/Mini/CRX (all of which I'd consider for a sporty commuter).
@tekamul: This thing gives all the benefits of a roadster/sports car, and most states consider three-wheelers to be motorcycles. So they're licensed as motorcycles and regulated as motorcycles, which means fewer emissions controls, fewer safety geegaws, less weight, etc...
But still, $30,000 is a bit high. Whatever happened to that $17,000 three-wheeler VW was talking about building a few years back?
