    I passed what appeared to be a Clubman the other day--it just looked like another Mini but with an ass deformity of some kind.

    That's because the Clubman is an ugly, fat piece of junk.


    Sorry, I'm bitter. I saw a REAL Mini yesterday. You know, the Mr. Bean Minis. There really is no similarity at all with these big BMW things.

    Your target market shouldn't be mid-life crisis men, school run mums and spoilt teenage girls...IT SHOULD BE JALOPERS.


    Every time BMW produces another badge-prostituted Mini I die a little inside. Not just because they're not real Minis, but because people think they are.


    I hate to admit it, but these days when someone says "Mini" I immediately think of the bulky BMW...not the original, and it hurts me; I feel ashamed every time I see a classic one.

    @Dhillaz: @Dr.Danger is a pottymouth: I would LOVE to be able to buy something cool and tiny like this. I quite like the SmartCars (before you rant, remember, we get the good diesels up here) but they're just not awesome the way the original Mini was.


    Furthermore, I've driven a Mini, (a real one, I mean) and still don't understand how they can have so much goddamn room inside! How is it they're larger on the inside than on the outside?

    Someone in my town has a Clubman that I see regularly. What an ill-proportioned, haphazardly-conceived mess that thing is. It just doesn't make sense.

    @TV's Paul Y.: They sell the Clubman on this side of the pond? Never seen one in the States, but IIRC you're Canadian, right?

    The ad campaign seems backward, as the Cooper S is more Hooliganesque than the Clubman will ever hope to be.


    The Cooper S wears a Polo shirt with blue jeans, and the Clubman sports Chinos and a sweater vest.


    And the Camaro SS is still rocking the Motley Crue tee from high school, worn nearly sheer through 2 decades of regular use.

    @area_educator kids...: Sorry, the Camaro SS is wearing a Mötley Crüe tee brand new from the Urban Outfitters at the Cherry Creek Mall (or insert any other uppscale mall you can think of).


    Not that that makes the Clubman any more counter-culture either.
