    Thanksgiving can, indeed, go to hell. I'm surprised New Year's Day isn't worse, if we're counting 12 AM to 12 AM as a day.

    Having nearly rear-ended a Caliper with my 3/4 ton Dodge pickup on Sunday in the dark and the rain, I will attest to this Most Dangerous Game. There was also the ladies I stopped to help change the flat on their Lexus, and the fact that I-85 was a parking lot for most of North Carolina. I skipped a good chunk of it by heading west on US-58 and then down 29 into Greensboro (I was coming from Richmond, VA, and heading back to Greenville, SC) but the bit of I-85 between there and Charlotte made me want to kill people.

    More like a CaliBer, a poorly designed and horribly executed small car from Dodge, that gets crummy fuel economy and looks like something a 2-year-old would draw.

    In the UK, Mayday Bank Holiday for sure.


    Basically everyone gets in their car and drives somewhere, but I'm pretty sure they have no idea where they're going.


    And if it's the M6, M1 or A14 you can be damned sure they're all going the same direction as me.

    I don't know about Thanksgiving, but yes, almost every near-death experience I have had in a car were due to fireworks shooting out of a car next to me last Fourth of July, sheer drunken morons on New Year's Eve, and a bunch of idiots driving doing their best clown-car impressions by stuffing 8 kids in the back of a car and bussing them from LA to the suburbs to go trick-or-treating.

    I know my rainy 800-mile drive on Sunday was the single most dangerous time I've ever had behind the wheel. I believe Thanksgiving, totally. Never leaving town again.
