    Put the spoiled good-for-nothings in Escorts and Cavaliers. They deserve no better.

    After reading just the title I had pretty much made up my mind to bash the idea ("Teens in supercars?! This is madness!" "Madness? This... Is... BRITAIN!!!")

    But if you think about it, it's not a bad idea - for a price, the kids get to live out their speedracer fantasies and (hopefully) not get anyone hurt in the process. Give 'em an opportunity to do some harmless supercar hooning and get it out of their system, and they might even be better drivers for it.

    I hate how excessively high our insurance premiums are, but I can honestly say it's like that way for a reason:



    I left school a year ago, and since then:
    one person flipped their Clio,
    another wrote off their brand new Polo and the S-Class he crashed into,
    another crashed his Rover straight into a lamp post...writing it off of course,
    another needed his brand new Yaris' engine rebuilt after an accident.



    Today I saw another classmate who was suspiciously riding in the back of someone else's car.



    Considering these cars all have displacements of 1.3 litres or less...I'll call the T-Shirt printers.

    @Syrax: Probably because only a young adult would be naive enough to think that putting 480bhp under a 15 year old's right foot wouldn't be unconsiounably redonkulous.




    EDIT: that said, if this was around when I was learning to drive, I would be a much poorer, much more adrenaline-hooked soul today...

    $140 for 15 minutes? That's actually a great deal--I spend $35 in entry fees at an autocross, which is about 4 minutes of racing, and not only do I have to bring my own car, I have to stand around in the sun (or rain) for 6 hours and run after cones to boot.


    I'd do this in a heartbeat. Can I get a fake ID that says I'm 18?

    I'm 23, but generally have the mentality of a 5 year old. That averages out to 14 - I'm hoping I could still theoretically participate, because that's my only chance at driving any of those cars.

    @leavethegun-takethecannoli: If it's an e-brake as in locking up the rear wheels, I'm not sure I'd care - 180s are plenty of fun. If it's just a regular brake like a driver's ed car, that's just a killjoy.

    @leavethegun-takethecannoli: Seems like a good plan. It's basically a $560 an hour car rental service. The difference is that you have a guy sitting in the car to make sure they don't drive the shit out of it like a normal rental.
